i test my ALK & CA every two days (only bc i just got my CA reactor once i get in tuned in once a week) and also test PO4 whenever i feel i want too maybe once every 10 days MG maybe once a week and thats it for me
but to answer your question... I at times test the night before and the day after my bi-weekly water change.. If at all. It becomes so routine that I'm confident in my 2 part DIY recipes and in my automated dosing that testing does not have to be that often now. How can I tell....Fish are spawning every 2 weeks, SPS colors are poping, LPS is nice and meaty, Zoa's are replicating and I keep a log.
alk every week ..everything else maybe once a month...I feel that alk swings have a much greater impact on corals then anything else as long as the PH is good...and as mentioned by OPG I can tell by looking at them if anything is wrong.
I test my salinity about twice a year. I tested calcium once when I set up the tank ten years ago. I can't imagine testing anything even once a day. what a chore.
a week maybe????......i test 3 times a week b/c i was trying to figure out a sweetspot for my doser, and i only test CAL,MAG & ALK. every thing else maybe once a month. salinity & PO4 once a week to make sure and it only takes 20 secs at most.
I "test" PH and temp every time I pass my tank (digital monitors). I've been testing PO4 and Nitrate almost daily, as they have been a problem for me.
Ca. and ALK., probably once a week. Salinity, before and after my weekly water changes.
Ca, Alk weekly

Mg, PO4 Monthly
Temp, pH, ORP is monitored costantly with Apex
Recalibration 6 months
