How many yellow tangs in a 625g?

I'm looking at getting 5 or 7 yellow tangs in my 625g since Liveaquaria has them on sale currently. Odd numbers are best I know but wanted to get opinions. I was also thinking about getting 2 or 3 purple tangs to mix in with them. Thoughts?

Only other fish in the tank are a Unicorn (5") powder blue (2.5") HiFin snapper (5.5") and 3 coral catfish (2.5-3") so I have plenty of room

Personally i would do 5 yellow but in the end will be up to the personality of the individual fish. I had a yellow that was a pain in a 90,120,and 210 with pretty much any other tang. ( He just was an *** lol )

I ordered 5 yellows and 2 purples. Hopefully they all make it thru QT

Your aquarium is 625 or so gallons? O2manyfish has a lot of fish (obviously, the name ;) ) with a tad smaller tank. By no means am I an expert but would tend to believe they would be fine provided there is enough to graze on. I'm not sure if they are has prolific say has bristle tooth tangs that don't stop grazing but I've seen more in smaller tangs. Should be a splash of color no doubt!

Just keep adding them one at a time until all hell breaks loose. Then you'll know the answer was one less than that.

Yes...pictures. One of my fond memories of diving in Hawaii is a shoal of yellow tangs and Kole tangs following a sea turtle. I

You’re fine D. You have lots of surface space given the dims of your tank. There is plenty of room for coexistence
