how much do true percs normally cost at a LFS?

its not horrible. It depends on size, health, & color. Most I see in my area range from $20 to $30.

aquacultured will cost more usually. That's not that bad for a pair. I've seen them as low as $25 each, but buy them small and they should pair.

glad im not being ripped off. should i add them before or after a sixline in my 30gal? i have a bta and 1 starry blenny.

+1 on adding the sixline last or not adding it at all. I had a sixline in a nano, horrible bloody thing, picked on my clowns to the point one went carpet surfing.

my fish store is saying 70$ for a pair and i thought that was pretty high.

That is a great price for a mated pair of percs.

At the store that I work at:

$15-Washed (small, color is okay)
$19-Medium, color is normal
$24-Large, color is normal
$89-Mated pair, larger Female, smaller Male.
$150ish- mated pair of Picasso clowns. (that was the price one of our stores were selling them at!

How much do Onyx clowns go for? Some gave me a premium Rose Bubble Anemone and a Onyx clown. I want to look in to getting him/her a Mate.

Don't forget to put them QT for at least 4 weeks before you put them in your main tank. There are plenty of horror stories on this forum of people who don't QT new arrives only to infect all their fish and main tank with parasites and that includes ORA clowns. Remember, ORA may raise them parasite free but then they go into the LFS tanks and who knows what's been in there. I'll never forget going to a well know chain store and seeing a large B&W Percula for sale for $39. The only problem was it had white specks on it. When I asked if the fish had Ich they replied it did have Ich but it was cured now. Needless to say I did not buy the fish but some poor hobbyist did and now all his fish have Ich and so does his tank. QT your new arrivals and save yourself a lot of grief.

The fish store by me has a pair of platinum clowns for 500 bucks i thought was a little ridiculous.
Not really, in some websites they started asking $700 for a SINGLE one, now if ur store is asking $500 for the pair that's a much better price.

2 years ago i paid 30 each...the same store today sells them for 15....btw..i'd pick a pair of picasso over platinum any day...

Are they just 2 fish, or a proven pair? The pet store here charges $18 for theirs.

Those platinum are a pair and i guess it is cheap but nothing i would waste money on. if you live in south florida they are at UNDA THE SEA (LFS) In Juno Beach
