I have not used it yet. Should I be? My water quality has been spot on and I have been afraid to touch anything. WHere would you run carbon in a sump? Directly in the waterflow into the sump?

Every three days: I got burned once by forgotten carbon turning loose everything it had collected back into my tank---and I have a 3 day attention span.

Small Phosban type reactor, then once a month, larger MRC type reactor, then once every 3 months.

But then your talking about a guy who does WC only once a month :)

I don't run carbon all the time. I use it when necessary, and remove it within two weeks. I don't trust leaving it in there because of it's tendency to do just what Sk8r said.

You might also want to consider what carbon you use. Some carbons will leach Phosphates.

Hopefully, next month, CTARS will be doing a test of several carbons similar to Steven Pro's test, but we will use a meter instead of test kit and include one that a lot of people use - Walmart's.
