how to definatively tell mojano or baby gbta?

I traded my lta for a couple "gbta" today and after looking at them I am afraid they may be green mojano. Is there a way to tell them apart. They are very small, like quarter or smaller. I have never seen a mojano so I am unsure.
Thanks
John

Ouch, man! Who traded them to you? Post a pic, unfortunately, I know mojanos all too well. If you have twice as many next week, they are definitely mojanos. If they are mojanos, they need to be id'd and removed quickly before they become a tank-wide plague. I know fellow reefers who have lost hundreds of dollars of corals to those stinging little shittz.

Go to Google and search for "majano anemone". There will be tons of pics to compare to. Or post yours here and we can ID them for you.

not the greatest pics. sorry.

Thanks for any help guys. is there something specific you can look at to tell?

PS. thats not in my tank. The person who traded me them sent me those to convince me they are not mojano

BTAs, when not bubbled, usually have a tapered tip, sort of like the end of a dull pencil. These have what look like blunt tips, similar to the tentacles of a Heteractis Magnifica. Also, most BTAs will have white lines near the mouth radiating out towards the tentacles. Neither of these are absolutes, but pretty close. :)

if you could get a better pic of them, it might be easier to tell, mojanos come in many different forms, and ive personally seen red, green, and brownish ones! ive had ones with blunt tips (i thought they were cool looking anemones too) and currently i have ones with spikey tips... anyways, did the guy that you got these from have a bigger bta? or a couple? there shouldnt be babies on the rock if hes had it for any amount of time if theres no parents in the tank...also, dont try to kill them, because they spread like aptasia and theyre 10x harder to get rid of! when i see them on new rock, i squirt boiling water on them with a syringe and get them off the rock before i put it back in the tank... hope this info helps you out... try to get your anemone back first though!

That is a majano, or a another type of anemone.

Small bubble tips with have white lines coming from their mouth out towards the outer disk. Not long like maybe an qtr inch to an inch.

You got hosed. The different between them is they like to squeeze their foot into small crevices like a aptasia. Bubbletips dont do that either.

Mr.iacuessa

because of the size of most bubbletips they can fit their foot in small crevices like apatasia or majano.

I should have been clearer, bubbletips do put their foot in crevices but not like a aptasia where they can retract into a rock.

Either way i can assure you they are not bubbletips.

They look almost definitely like mjanos to me. I am almst 100% certain. Time t donltwill tell, bu let them spread.
