How to get bright red

I bought a red stag couple weeks before, but the colour keeps pink purple. How can I get bright red. The stag is in mid tank . Should I place higher or lower to get bright red?

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic

Sorry, short of a Acro Witch Doctor that piece won't be bright red. Try something fresh off the reef that's pink or a cultured red Millie.

Has it always been pink/purple in your tank or did it shift to that color. The reason I ask is because pictures can be a little deceiving even if the seller didn't intend it that way. Also if it has shifted to the current color it could just be the coral acclimating to your tank. I run my tank with slightly higher nutrients than most of the places I get corals from and they tend to take on a more dull color for about a month or so before returning to their more vibrant state. Just my two cents

I find that light (type, spectrum, intensity) has a very strong influence over color. This is especially true if you're making big jumps like MH to LED. I can't trust any LED lit tank's color because it's guaranteed to change under my halides.

It has shift to this color. It's been in my tank now a couple of weeks

I put another red stag frag in my friends tank and he is using mh and he also have pink and not red. Is red very difficult to get?

Red is the most difficult color to keep in my experience. I've had periods where my tank did well with red, but currently I can't get deep, dark reds. I dose Red Sea color program and still no luck. I run all T5s and LEDs. Someday I'll figure it out I hope!

i will try to blast it with light and see if I can get the bright red. I think the most difficult color is bright orange to keep

Red planet gets much redder in high light. I don't know if that is true for all reds or not. Bright corals often go through color shifts in new tanks because of all the different parameters as well as lighting and flow changes. Patience, and more patience. If it was great looking in the sellers tank and it was not a fresh import, it will likely color up with a little time, patience and love.
