How to get tang to eat nori seaweed

Hey all,
I've got a 3-4" gold rim tang in QT currently, I bought him some sea weed to eat and after dropping it in attached to a seaweed clip he just completely ignores it. The seaweed has been in there for a couple days now and he just isnt going for it. Any suggestions on how to get this guy munching down on his greens?

Perhaps it's just not used to nori. Introduce some additional flavors and scents to it. Take a sheet of nori, cut it in half. Take some frozen mysis, thaw them out, and add some small pellets and/or flakes to them. Mix up all of the food with a little garlic and/or selcon (to entice it to eat, does nothing for parasites), and place it into the nori sheet like you are making a burrito or cigar. Roll the nori around the food mixture, and put it on the clip, and into the tank. There's bound to be something in there that will entice the fish to the nori clip. The fish will then associate nori with food...

Just be careful of your water quality. This solution can get somewhat messy. Also, if the other nori has been in the tank for a few days, it's time to remove it...

i would take some macro algae and clump it together with the sheet. maybe some caulerpa or something.

I had the same trouble with my Mimic Tang. I actually rubberband a piece to a rock and put it in there. Gives a more natural feel. Also it would only eat the Red Seaweed from Ocean Nutrition. He finally came around to eat the green. So something to think about.

Fairly normal with tangs. It can take them a little bit, especially if they're a little stressed and not comfortable yet. My purple tang did the same thing when I first got hm. I recently moved all my fish to a new tank and he even stopped eating off the seaweed clip for almost a week when I first put him in. Now, he's back to normal.

The best advice i received was be consistent (place on lower half of tank glass, mine do not like it high up), patient and replace the seaweed every 2 days or so. It took my Chevrons a little under 10 days or so before they finally started chowing on it. It will happen! I used the one with a garlic additive.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I am a wrasse guy at heart so these tangs are becoming a learning process. Good news is that I've seen him nibbling on the sea weed, he's not really eating very much of it but he is showing interest and nibbling on it from time to time. Maybe as you guys mentioned he will warm up after being in QT longer and start really going at it.
