I'm going up there tomorrow with the stain... the Nikon is charging now. :D

Curious what program did you draw your renderings and designs in?
Found it in your thread... Sketch up.
thanks

Now for a REAL update. :D

I made the trek out to ShoTank today to pick up some things from Matt and once again, i'm a happy camper. :D Looks like the trim work on my stand is nearing completion and i'm loving it. I'll skip the verbose description of my happiness and jump straight to what the viewers want ... the pictures!

Here's the front left corner

And here's the front

Here's a shot showing the front doors all opened up.

And here are the left and right sets of doors opened individually

Here's a shot showing the right side where the sidecar will sit. You can see the how the trim at the bottom is cut back a bit to make room for it.

And I saved the best for last... here's the removable panel in action. :D The side and front panels are completely removable so I can have full access to work on my tank if I really need it. Fantastic idea and when the panels are in place, you can't tell that they're removable.

Once again, two thumbs up for ShoTank on this project. I couldn't be happier with the work that's been done.

Thats probably the craziest part, whenever anyone outside of this community hears I have a 180 they are AMAZED.... Then you go to peoples house's like RKC's with a 600 and feel like your tank sucks.

+1:lol:

You can thank Matt for that idea. I'd have just been excited to have a big door that has the middle part attached to the door for more access... now I have both! Matt and I had a good laugh about the nightmare of plumbing that awaits me and whoever gets suckered in to helping me. :D

Looks sharp man! Gonna be nice when its all set up.

Thanks Nick. Time to get your OM back into gear and churning the waters of my reef. ;)

WOW :eek1:

Looks awesome Ed!

This tank is going to be out of control!

Thanks Austin. You know I had to do this one up as much as possible though. Thanks again for making it worth my while to drive to Michigan and pick it up!

Now I wish I had a bigger place so I could go full peninsula with it. Oh well, it's going to be HUGE in the living room of a townhouse crammed in with a 57" TV and a 10'x7' couch. :lmao:

Party at my place when I get it up and running. :D

New Canopy!

New Canopy!

RKC and I made a quick trip to ShoTank today to pick up some goodies and it looks like my canopy is almost done! Matt has some more pieces to put in place but the stand/canopy build is nearing completion. Then it's on to the sidecar and finishing.

Time for more pictures!

The Stand with the Canopy Sitting on it. I'm loving all of those doors on the stand.

At this point you should be asking yourself "Yes, but how does it OPEN?"

Simple. Just like this!

Now that's a happy Krunchy. :D

Looking great Ed ... and I mean the stand and canopy!

I'm not sure how to take that one. Thanks? I think? ;)

Matt sure does some nice work!

That he does. I can't wait to see it all done and in my living room with that 275g tank sitting on it!

Looks like I'm going to redesign my sump though. That 125g isn't going to cut it for what I want to do and there really isn't a good way to implement a refugium in it. :(

More details to come ...

More details to come ...

I've decided to go ahead and have a new Sump/Refugium combo built. I can't stand the thought of not having a good sized fuge and i'd really rather not run another tank sitting beside/behind the 275. :(

With that being said, i've put together an initial design that i'm pretty happy with. It's very simple but should do the job.

Total Dimensions - 48" x 36" x 21" (157.1g)

Fuge Side : 47 x 16 1/2 x 20 1/2 (68.8g)
Sump Side : 47 x 18 x 20 1/2 (75.1g)

The sump side will be divided up into 3 parts. The drain chamber where the 3x 1.5" drains will go, the Skimmer chamber where the "to be purchased at a later date" skimmer will sit, and the Pump chamber which will feed the Dart as well as house the media reactors and float switches for the ATO.

Here's the measurements I came up with in SketchUp.
Drain Chamber : 13 1/2 x 18 x 20 1/2
Skimmer Chamber : 20 x 18 x 8 1/2
Pump Chamber : 12 1/2 x 18 x 20 1/2

And here are the drawings.
