How to make Swiss Cheese - Krunchy's 275g Closed Loop monster!

Speaking of my new sump, I made some final revisions to the design so that I could get the skimmer in and out without issue. Thanks to gotfish8 for the reminder about that. :D

I'm not even sure if this design is possible or if i'll have to run the fuge as a separate tank, but i'm sure my acrylic guy will let me know whenever I pass this along.

I've now shortened the height of the sump side down to 17" and will probably remove the waterfall drain from the fuge in favor of a bulkhead and some PVC to cut down on air bubbles. I've also squeezed the filter sock holder plate in as much as possible to keep all of the water splash covered up. That should could down on the salt spray/evap.

A few updates...

A few updates...

The build is back! Thanks to some crazy work schedules, things got delayed. I'm back again and things are moving along. The stand/canopy/sidecar are finished up and coming home this afternoon! (Pics to follow)

For new, here are some shots of the most recent equipment i've gotten for my tank.

First up, the Aquatronica controller and it's components. I also have a 3rd power bar that's not pictured here.

Make way for the King! The Bubble King that is. I just picked up a Bubble King 250 Deluxe so i'm now officially covered in the skimmer area. :D

Nice equipment. Did you find deals used? If so, glad to see someone taking advantage of the economy to cash in on some nice stuff.

Sweet additions ... love the "King"

Thanks! I love that thing. It's a beast. Couldn't pass up the deal.

Absolutely. I've bought almost everything used. I'm trying to keep build costs down as much as possible without cutting any corners. Might as well get it while you can, right?

HS, sorry I missed your call earlier. Things are hectic with job #2 right now and I was also trying to get my garage cleaned up after the addition of a 60x60 stand and canopy! (I brought the beast home today)

Ring me tomorrow when you have time.

Oh and don't make me jealous with your mac daddy skilter 400. You know I can't afford the high end stuff like that. :(

FINALLY - I was tired of tripping over the !@#!@#$ thing at Sho Tank.

FYI (for the rest) - I am the guy who bought Krunch's 125. There is a build thread over in the newbie forum, but it has not been updated in a month.

Krunch - you will have to laugh at me after I post my next update to the build thread (actually - I have MANY updates to post). The last time we talked, we were discussing how I was taking things slow and the like. Yea, right. Shortly after you left I walked out of there with not only a CUC, but the first fish. INCLUDING (LOL )- the blueline foxface that you recommended that I NOT get. He is shy - but we do see him out and about a lot. Just runs and hides when we get too close to the tank.

hehehehe, you ought to see the marks that thing left in Matt's carpet.

Don't worry man, it happens to all of us. You get a little taste of it and then you can't stop. :D As far as the Foxface, did I recommend not getting that one? I remember us talking about how I had a Magnificent Rabbit and how shy he was (to the point of being totally anti social). Oh well, I try not to draw such a hard line on stuff like that. Part of the fun of this hobby for me is the learning and watching the animals interact so I try not to deprive people of that experience. But see, you didn't listen anyway so I must not have been too adamant. ;)

Good luck with the rest of your updates. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of that 125 as I did.

lol - I do not remember the specifics on the fox discussion. I thought you actually described the one I got. Steve at Sho Tank called it a blue line rabbit - and I have seen them called masked rabbit (Siganus puellus is the "official" name"). HE is actually full of personality, but just hides in his corner when I come around. Just to get to me - he was showing off for my son earlier- just to tick me off, lol.

Later - time for the start of the update.

Wednesday proved to be a long day but the stand, canopy, and sidecar are now home. It took a beating here and there during the unloading process so some of it will have to be touched up, possibly stripped and stained. Fortunately it's just a few trim pieces that need it so they can be removed, stained, and then added back. Worst case, they're some of the easiest parts to replace. The weight of the tank also seems to have made the stand settle in just a touch so i'll have to "adjust" the side pieces a touch before they'll fit again. And by adjust I mean get a table saw and remove about 1/16" off of the bottom of them. They were a super snug fit before and now they don't fit at all without some serious force. I don't want to damage them in the future so i'm going to trim them back.

I'd like to throw a special thanks out to Matt & ReefKeepersCorner for helping me load and unload this beast.

An extra special thanks to the monkeys at U-Haul who rented me a truck that would not allow a 5' x 5' piece of furniture to sit flat, thus causing me to have to put things in at angles and have issues with things sliding. I asked 3 different people at U-Haul if the truck they were renting me would house a 5' x 5' piece of furniture and allow it to sit flat on the bottom of the truck... all 3 said yes without hesitation. Too bad they weren't remembering those pesky fender wells. What a bunch of morons!

Now back to the show!

Here it is without the side panels on it. The sump is now in place as well.

And of course, the salt. I took the time to stack it neatly so I figured it was worth another picture. :D

Last but not least, the BK250 in it's new spot. I had to do a test fit just to make sure.

Very nice Ed! I'll try and help you fix those scuffs first before you go to the extreme and strip/replace pieces of the wood.
