Just like the title says. Any one know of a chemical I can use safely to remove the old adhesive from say a sticker or tape?

Home Depot has this stuff that removes all kinds of tape adhesive, spray glue, etc., but I don't know if it's safe on acrylic. It's called: Motsenbocker's "Lift Off". What about nail polish remover? Will that eat away at the acrylic? It takes off sticker glue when the stickers are on glass.

Rub a layer of cooking oil on it and let it sit over night. It should come off easy the next day.

actually you dont need any of these things just the use of your finger and rubbing it, it will come off............ now thats not to say it wont come off easier with a chemical but it will come off just rubbing it with your hand....I just did it last week where I had a piece of industrial strength Velcro on the top of my tank that I moved

Actually, you should pick up a bottle of each and just add them to your arsenal. Between the two, you can get just about anything cleaned up quickly.

Which ones Chuck? I have goo one and lift off?

I'm tempted to try the cooking oil Lacy suggested since I already have it.

Should of read goo gone. LOL

Matt, sure thing. I'll drop it off right now. Wait out side for me :D Its too small for your tank any ways. :p

I would be careful with chemicals on the acrylic. I use rubbing alcohol. If it was glass Goo Be Gone is awesome stuff.

I think the acetone in nail polish remover will act as a solvent and mess up the acrylic.

I have no idea if it is acrylic safe, but in general I have had good luck with lighter fluid as an adhesive remover.

Cooking oil. Trust me I do it all the time. The thicker the adhesive the longer it will take. Sometimes just a few hours and it won't hurt the acrylic.
