I am back. And here is a little eye candy.

sahin

Ultimate Reefer
I lost my SPS collection about 6 months or so back...that hurt. I still have the coral skeletons...

But I am back with a reset system. I am running the following in terms of light:

Front to Back:
Blue+
Aquablue Special
Cree Royal Blue + Blue LED's
ATI Purple+
Blue+
Blue+

Tank runs no Carbon dosing, no GFO. Bare bottom tank with dead rock from MarcoRocks, rocks were bleached and washed in acid to reduce phosphates. Phosphates typically measure less than 0.01ppm using the Hanna ULR Phosphorus. It feels so good to not have to utilise GFO or a carbon dosing system.

Here are the photos.

I like this Acro for its long Polyps.

My Strawberry Shortcake. Has fully encrusted onto the rock, and is colouring up very well

I love the blue tones on this Acro:

Another nice sky blue Acro:

This next piece is amazing. But I couldnt capture the colours well, the coral is pinky/purple with some green:

This one is REALLY bright green and stands out so much:

My favourite out of the bunch. The polyps are blue. The main body is dark green with pink tips. Couldnt capture the pink well:

And finally...A chalice. My only Chalice:

If you can offer postive ID for the Acros I'd appreciate that.

PS, I have used photo software to get the coral colours/brightness/contrast of lighting etc etc, but only to the point of getting as close to what I see in my tank.

Very nice collection sahin! I look forward to the growth pics... How about an fts? Yu are lucky that you can do without gdi or carbon source!

Wow corals look great!!!

Didn't you run Prodibio?

What made you want to stop carbon dosing?

Great looking frags. This is going to be fun to watch their growth over time, as you post progress pictures here.

:)

Hi Sahin,
Well come back. It is so nice to see your frags are beautiful and doing so well, plenty of PE and so colorful. I bet in no time they will grow into lovely colonies.

Many thanks. I will post an FTS when the tank looks a little better. At the moment an FTS just shows a few tiny frags and loads of rock. Looks yuck at the moment. Too ashamed to show. :)

your pic of the unknown looks like acropora prostrata. but it could also be mille can't really tell with the polyps..
Thanks.

I did dose Prodibio bacteria and Zeostart2 at the start to get the bacterial population up to speed. And then thought I'd continue. But tests of phosphate always gave readings below 0.01ppm and nitrates that dont register. So I stopped dosing the Zeostart2 (which I was adding as the carbon source). I do add Prodibio now and again after a water change, but add no carbon source whatsoever. I still add the Prodibio bacteria because I got some Cyanno and felt that since I started with 100% dead rock and no sand, and nothing other than frags get into my system, I ought to dose bacteria now and again. At least the first 6 months.

I look forward to your progress! Looks great so far.
Many thanks. I hope I can get this setup to at least 3 years.

Very nice, the colors are amazing!!!
Many thanks for the compliment.

Yes, there are sufficient number of frags here that will enable me to provide a decent before and after showcase.

nicee lets get a full tank shot

As mentioned above, my tank looks too yucky for an FTS at the moment.

Looks like a nice start. I agree with others, how about a FTS to top things off?

Haha, as mentioned in a couple of posts already. :)

Thanks Bernie. Yeah I pray that nothing crazy like Dinos or an Alk wipeout happens. I am so scared of something going wrong.

I just spent 4 continous hours cleaning the sump, display etc etc and doing a water change after blasting the rocks. I have 6 Trochus snails in the tank that keep the rocks and glass completely free of any algae/diatoms or film algae on the glass. But heck they poop so MUCH and it ends up in the nooks and crannies of the rocks.

Dont be ashamed of your tanks infancy! But i understand what ur saying. Sometimes i feel the same way but half the excitment is watching it grow!

Sorry to hear of you problem....I never knew. We all have hicups and road blocks....sometimes this hobby can be a rollacoaster but only the weak give up! Looks like you are on your way to a come back....

good luck man and don't stress I too have a bucket of coral skeletons it saddens me but keeps me on my game everytime i see that bucket..again good luck cannot wait to see these corals grow..
