I am back. And here is a little eye candy.

Nice looking selection so far.

Tanks always turn out better anyway after a setback. You always end up redoing what you didn't like about them the first time.
At least you didn't give up. That's what counts.

Reef on!

Sorry to hear of you problem....I never knew. We all have hicups and road blocks....sometimes this hobby can be a rollacoaster but only the weak give up! Looks like you are on your way to a come back....

I agree 100%, I too am rebuilding and it is a slow process, but worth it. Great looking corals!

Hi Sahin,

Sorry to hear of your loss. Looks like your comming back full force. You have some very impressive colors and polyp extension.

Warmest Regards,
James

Seems a few of the old timers are rebuilding right now. There's going to be some really nice tanks coming up- this one included! You're previous setup looked great. Is your nano still rocking??

I broke down the Nanocube when I set my current tank up. However, after the nanocube, all I had was problems with this tank...AEFW's, Dinos - once...twice...then I was ill for a bit and took the tank down, sold livestock etc, but kept the tank and equipment.

Essentially nearly two years wasted as I had to restart a few times with the current setup. But its been good for the past 9 months or so.

I plan to make a tank thread in a few months. I'm also looking out for a new DSLR to replace my Nikon D70. Hopefully My corals will have coloured up a bit more and I will have learnt how to use my new DSLR in a few months time.

Really pleased to hear you're going to start a journal Sahin as i just know i won't be disappointed :) Very little mechanical and chemical filtration - you're my kind of reefer mate lol

Great, may I ask what is your compositions in T5 and led -- just to refresh my memory?

Since ATI brought out the Coral+ tube, I have changed my combo. Also because I wanted a fuller spectrum.

I now use front to back:

ATI Actinic
ATI Coral+
Royal Blue LED's
ATI FijiPurple
ATI Coral+
ATI Actinic

I replaced two Blue+ with the Actinic because all other bulbs have a generous part of the blue end of the spectrum. I will actually replaced one of the Coral+ with a KZ New gen at some point because with two coral+ and a purple+ there is just a little bit more red tint than I like.

I also run the LED's at 1watts each; so the Royal Blue LED's are the same watts as the T5 I replaced. This produces just enough blue without overpowering with a blue look.

Lovely pieces Sahin, looking forward to seeing a FTS when ready. Where do you get your frags?
Regards

I dont even have those frags anymore, because after I posted this thread I broke down the tank due to illness, but kept all the equipment. I then started
the tank after the end of summer last year.

Since that restart, things have been good.

As for where I get the frags from; mostly Reefworks, Reefshack, Aquatic Design Centre and Maidenhead aquatics...a few other random places too. Also from other reefkeepers too.

I now have the following:
2 types of Strawberry Shortcake
2 types of Echinata
Banana Lokani
Red Planet
30K Lokani
Forestfire Digitata
Branching Cyaphastrea Decadia - Not many in the UK have this
Rainbow Montipora
Sapphire Millepora
Blue Millepora
Rose Millepora
Bubblegum Milli

And a few other nice pieces. Of course I use the names of the ORA and other pieces available in the USA, but in the UK we dont have lineage to such pieces. But, I have searched around to try and get "equivalent" pieces and I am quite happy with my collection now.

Just need to add a blue tort to the collection to complete what I want. Some pieces have been in my tank for around 6 months, others only a week or so.

Like last week I picked up a shortcake from a hobbyist who broke down his tank. Even though I have a shortcake already, I bought this piece because it has the deepest pink colouration I've ever seen on a shortcake.

I plan to grown the frags to decent sizes and then share out with others so that other people have the nicer pieces and I will hopefully have a back up should something happen to my tank.

I just find that many hobbyists in the UK tend not to share frags readily, even when they have a very large colony. I'm of the view that nice pieces should particularly be shared.

Thanks for the response, you have some nice corals. As you say there are many ORA coral names available in the UK if you find the correct classification rather than the fashionable names such as 'Arctic blue bollocks at sundown'

I picked up a nice red carduus from Reef works a few weeks back and not a mythical fire breathing beast to be found lol

All the best and happy reefing

Glad you are back! Been waiting for this moment. Any chances you got some pictures of your setup, tank, and everything thanks!

Great pics. Glad you are back up and running again. I know how hard it is to lose lots of SPS colonies. It looks like you have a great start.

LOL. This thread is like more than a year old now (15 months old).

Sometime after started this thread 15 months ago, I had to shut down the tank as I was ill. Like I explained on my previous post, I dont have those frags anymore from page 1 of this thread. I sold all the livestock to my LFS. I shut down my tank and kept the equipment whilst I was ill. At that time the tank was still newly started and being ill, it was better to shut down for a few months.

I am better now. My tank has been running again for the past 9 months. Soon I will start a new thread.

I have acquired some really nice frags; just waiting on them to grow a little.
