i am having a bad time in keeping the blue in sps

I do not believe any zeolites or potassium will help you keep blue corals. I have intense blue corals and I do not use either. I do believe that keeping perfect water conditions will help, and I do think lighting is critical. Most corals having blue in them need intense light and can be enhanced with light that tends towards the blue spectrum. So . . . if you want blue corals I suggest keeping your water parameters as close to an Indonesian reef as possible and investing in high intensity blue spectrum lights using either Radium MH bulbs, T5 actinics, or blue LEDs as a primary light source.

But then that is only one man's opinion so I hope you will take everyone's advice and come up with the best answer for you! :)

+1,
Sounds like good gospel to me.

is it to change the 30W white LED on my maxspect to Blue LED ?

if you want blue tips, you must be thinking in those appears when an acro its growing...for that K its not a factor...

you should keep an eye in your light...maybe a better/bluer spectrum will be fine....

Hi,

If you're talking about just blue tips, as a sign of growth, then you're lights should be fine.

I have A. Muricata which show blue tips as they grow, under Maxpsect 160w LED. Also have a dark purple/violet acropora that has stayed the same color so far. So as far as lights are concerned, I think you should be ok, for blue acros.

Dunno about the other colors yet, tank is still young.

i do not know whether is it the 30W LED is causing the corals to loose their colour . plan to turn off that one first

I agree that K is not a factor in growth and without that you can't have the nicely colored tips, although while many of my corals showed lighter growth tips, their color increased dramatically with the addition of Potassion. It may not have anything to do with growth but the results that I have seen tell me that it definitely affects colors!

To the OP- it's worth a try. Obtain a good test kit and be sure to dose cautiously.

Yes. Recent research shows, scientifically, that corals respond to different wavelengths of light differently which plant scientists have known to be true for plants for decades, and common experience here on RC shows that adding blue spectrum lighting will make some corals more colorful, but I say again that the water parameters, flow, and tank biology are all equally important to keeping colorful corals.
