I can't beleive that I've got another giant worm !!!!

ouch!

That's one big worm. Amazing that something that big can go undetected in a tank for very long.

Here are a couple of pics of my eunicid in his lair -- which just happens to run next to the aquarium glass.

that monster looks like in should be the star of a bad sci fi movie. now i'm gonna have nightmares about that thing(shutters)

BLEH! That thing gives me the creeps :eek1: . I agree, you should sell it on Ebay. I am sure somebody will pay a small king's ransom for it. Somebody managed to sell a mason jar with crayon markings all over it as "Ghost in a jar" for over $50,000. So why can't you profit too lol. Good luck, hope you don't have any more!

Mariner.....way back when, I had a few correspondances with Dr. Ron and he confirmed their predatory nature.....especially when they get big.....but, he really didn't have any first hand experience with their being that large. There actually is quite a bit of info on the net about them....but few first hand aquarium experiences.

Since this is my second round with them, I have been able to experience first hand by observing their behavior (a know your enemy thing). As many folks have expressed.....How can you miss something that large ? ...... Well, it's easy......they are so good about moving/living within rock that it took me about 9 hrs of nightime viewing before I spotted him. I would bet that many....and maybe even most.....reefers out there have one of these guys. I see several of them (tiny ones a few inches long) at the bottom of rock boxes when they're unloaded at the LFS each week.....at least the rocks from Fiji. I think that they are confused with being bristlworms when that size. Maybe I'm just unique in that, for whatever reason, they grow well in my system.

Why don't you remove yours ???

At the moment I'm also hunting a worm in my tank that I saw for the first time about 3 mornings ago. He's at least a foot long but as thick around if not thicker than yours. It looks very similar to a bristle worm but is almost all white. I couldn't hlod him with 2 net handles and he got away so I've been staying up trying to catch him. I have yet to see him again but when I do, I promise pics.

Yup, I pulled one of these from my tank before my last move. It was about 3 ft long and had wound its way around and through my LR like a shoelace.

The only reason I got it at all was because I was completely dismantling the LR for the move. Prior to that I had seen maybe 6 inches of it extend from the LR for feeding. Boy was I surprised and grossed out.

WOW, I cannot believe you found another worm! I am sure you will get the tank looking better than before in no time.

Awesome tank Steve........the worm....well........yikes!!
This one at least looks a lot thinner than the first one. Good catch and hope everything heals quickly.

I am just glad i caught mine before it got that big, mine was scary enough. I just happened to catch the sucker taking a huge chunk out of one of my recordias. Problem was to get him I had to break down my tank, finally after he almost cleaned out my zoanthids, I had to do it.
