Well done! Unfortunately, I think Ruiz is quite right in this situation. But, you also have to look at it from the perspective of if you don't do anything then things certainly aren't going to change.
I was in Grand Cayman back in June and saw more than one on each dive. They are actually educating the general public about them on the island and many dive ops will kill them on site.
