okay so i bought my tank about 3 months ago and it had these green blobs that didnt move or do anything until a couple weeks ago my wife kept insiting that they were growing. They have now turned orange and open and close.

read about palythoa. They are very toxic if introduced to the blood stream. Use caution when handling.

on this i am very lucky this is my first ever saltwater tank and when i bought it i was under the assumption i was buying just rock, protien skimmer, tank, lights, and a couple of snails. Got it all home and began aquascaping bare handed!! I actually brushed several of these off. I thought ot was some kind of algea. Only after reading about the bristle worms in my tank did i discover about the toxicity of things that are or can be common in reef aquaria.

You will be fine its just better to use caution when handling them i stick my hand in my tank allot as long as your not smashing a bunch of them and have really long exposure to that water your fine yes its better to use a glove in the tank but its not always practical

Thats live rock you get all kinds of cool stuff and some pests im happy you got the better end of the deal cool polyps (large zoas) i have some of the common green ones my family calls them alien corals
