thank you for the info MammothReefer, that makes a lot of sense. I basted them when I saw them and my chromis were eating them from the water column. I did just order a small mystery wrasse and a small 6 line, hoping this will help. If they do not get along while in qt, would you recommend one over the other? thanks

Thought the whole basting theory was stupid . then I started doing it and noticed that the corals responded very well. I baste everything now.

No doubt!
Periodic basting of colonies and live rock is good husbandry for many reasons.

MammothReefer- thank you again for your input. I just looked up the wrasses you mentioned (I'm new to SPS and wrasses) and they are both beautiful fish. My 6 line and mystery wrasse showed up a few hours ago and are in qt at the moment, not paying any attention to each other. I am worried I made a mistake with these fish, particularly the mystery so I'm not sure what my options are at the moment. The sites selling these fish make them out to be passive, but the stories I've read suggest otherwise...

The 6 line will be much more aggressive then the mystery. Mystery is a good fish I had one I liked it.. but it Jumped
