Evidently "John" is stating that treating ich with hypo does not work, right? Are we agreed on this?

no i believe he told me it CAN work IF done properly,he never said it doesnt work.this thread has gotten really off track.the original poster knows who we are debating about and can make his own decision to how he treats his fish.i say QT and copper treat them but thats just me,i did it with no problems JMO.

No I am saying you are listening to the fact that JOHN said it doesn't work but it has been proven that it does and that there are many articles on the subject.

i talked with John about hypo and he said it doesnt work that great.

kiransreef, where in the world are you getting this NOT so great tank and that I have no live rock in my tank? What is the deal with that? And by the way I don't even look thru those forums you speak of.

You never said this anywhere. Back at ya.

Hypo is the cheapest. Copper costs way more considering the testing a couple of times a day, adding copper, testing more, adding copper, etc. Please.

Freed,

When have we ever spoken? Why is it that you find the need to attack me for a statement that you do not even know that I made? If I did advise someone against hyposalinity, do you know the context to which my advice was given? Why are you accusing me of greed? Do you know when I last sold an รƒยขรขโ€šยฌร…โ€œexpensiveรƒยขรขโ€šยฌร‚ย treatment?

John you have more than once sold me a cheeper item than I thought I needed. He doesnt see that you take each persons problem and try figure out what you can to best fit there needs. He thinks theres one way to do everything and thats that.

well, im going to FAOIS to get some garlic guard, and ask my "Greedy" LFS owner (lol) what he thinks. I for one am one who believes that very few things are 100% thats why all those sanitizers say 99.9% effective as an example there are many more but i digress. Like stated before there is more than one way to skin a cat.

John and his staff are the finest people Ive ever dealt with in this hobby. from a quality, knowledge and products standpoint

IME, Coppersafe is the way to go. Hypo is , as stated, effective when done properly. I personally had issues with it because of an ammonia spike and salinity being lower than measured. On a second attempt I used a properly cycled 55 gallon that had been running continuously with some dither fish and successfully qted 8 ignitus anthias, 2 wrasses and a gramma for 4 weeks using only coppersafe.. its just easier and more reliable and certainly less stressful on some sensitive fish.. IMO.. and btw, this is the way John reccomended I QT.. and it worked

ive used garlic guard myself with great success...
usually the ich will " " go away for a while ...
but when i added another fish i found that sometimes it can creep back.. not always ...

i had asked acrapora nut (spelling) he had tank of the month last year..
and i noticed his black tang had ich...
he said when it happens in his system.. he uses the garlic and tries to skim extra hard to remove the more food he adds to the tank...

this is a very debatable subject...
i have only tried the garlic...
i tried the kick ich with no success...
i would soak the food in garlic.. i found formulat 1 and 2 to be the best.. i would feed as little as possible and as often as possible.. the more you let the food sit in the water the more it would dilute..
so if you feed spareingly and more often then the fish will get more of the garlic..

i also found that mini krill (tetra) would soak up the garlic as well..

i have also had it where it seemed like the ich multiplied so quickly in my system i lost 75 percent of my fish... (not sure why but..)

they say if you can increase the temp in your tank without hurting the corals it speeds up the cycle.. how true it is i dont know..
