Trueblackpercula: I've had success with Emerald crabs and Sailfin tangs. The big bubbles need to be removed manually.

I agree w/MACH5. The bubbles are suprisingly tough and most can be lifted out and removed if you can get a couple of fingers around it. If you cant, try lifting them out carefully with clean tweezers.

Donn't these bubles release alot of "seeds" if broken? I would be very careful removing them, perhaps syphoning them out would be best incase they break.
Not all Sailfins are created equal, I believe the sailfin tang from the Red Sea is the better choice.

The emeral crabs will take care of them. Give them time to find them all, but they will eat them up. You can manually pick out the big ones if you have tweezers. Al

A friend of mine had bubble algae so bad it covered his liverock ,overflow and return lines it was bad. He was just about to give up and sell his tank. He bought a foxface and in a few weeks no more bubble algae ,it was amazing.

My Red Sea Sailfin Tang took out my bubble algae. I tried the emeralds and they didn't work for me.

emeralds usually do the trick but can indeed become problems.

like the dejardinas tangs and in some instances the naso's seem to be okay.

The only luck I've had is with plucking them off.. No other animal that I have tried has worked.. pluck-em & chuck-em..

Emerald crabs with the "big" claws work, as do Sailfin Tangs if you have a very large tank.

my emeralds didn't do it either. I just swapped out all my LR because of the bubble algae. and now I am spending extra time finding and removing any bubble that is still showing up on frag rocks. that is the only algae that has ever beat me, ever.
