I have redbugs

I should be cured of my red bugs, I used 4 tabs of interceptor within 6 hours. Bad news- my cleaner shrimp did not survive. Good news- I can't see any red bugs and there were copepods and mysis floating in my water, so hopefully I will never have to deal with this plague again. Oh, no SPS or fish were affected, all hermits are dead.

I also began running rowacarbon this morning and I am going to do a 25 gallon water change in a couple days to make sure everything is nice and clean.

matt, that is good news.i am surprised the normal dosage was not enough for your system.i have heard of using double the dosage as being safe but not required.also from what i have been reading on the treatment, going with 12 hours instead of 6 also helps.anyway i am glad to hear they are gone.your corals will look better than ever in a couple weeks.

Well, I did the normal dosage and it didn't seem to help much, there were still lots of red bugs on the heavily infected stag. Today there is nothing, absolutely not a single sign of a red bug. I did the very heavy dosage because the doses previously didn't seem to affect anything other than copepods and hermits and such. Such I figured a "Shock and Awe" type of tactic might work well on the SOB's. I did a 25 gallon water change yesterday before the treatment to ensure optimum water quality and I am going to do another one, most likely on Sunday so I can see the colors start to bounce back. I am already seeing better polyp extension on the stag. Another reason that I decided to go so aggressive was that small areas of the stag colony were starting to bleach and its normally good growth had stopped completely. I will continue to update this thread in the next couple weeks.

I did another water change on Sunday, it was around 15 gallons and I don't think it needed to be done, but I did it just the same. The fish and coral don't seem to be affected from the massive dose of Interceptor, so thats good. I can't see any red bugs, which is good news and the stag has repaired the small bleached portion for the most part, also good news. Color and polyp extension seem a little better, but that might be from the 40 gallons of water change in the last week (or maybe I'm just trying to see it). Anyway, looks like I might be out of the woods. YAY!!!
