I have a BTA that is getting rather large so today I purchased two juvenile maroon clownfish from the LFS hoping they would host it. One clownfish is slightly larger than the other and I figured they would sort out their differences and become a pair. This was BEFORE I read the clownfish FAQ. Honestly I never scrolled down far enough to see that there was a clownfish forum. Anyway, the FAQ says the two maroons will not work. Should I take one back to the LFS?

Also, the LFS guy said a tank raised clownfish may or may not host. Is this true?

first you can have a pair of maroon clowns but if the larger one starts to beat up on the little one i would put it in to a fish bagger not a fish bag but be sure that the fish bagger has a lot of hloes in it for water the go threw it. this will help the female get used to the male being in the tank and when you feel that they will get along you can put the male clown back into the tank. but if she starts agian i would put him back into the fish bagger. and the guy at the pet store is right the clowns may or may not host but iv got a pair of false percs at home and they are tank raised and host a bubble tip anemone. i hope this helps you out.

I had a pair of GSM hosting in a RBTA for so long until I sold them recently. I don't know where you're reading that two maroon clowns will not work.
And since yours are small, you have a better chance of them accepting each other as mate. They might fight a little but I think you're fine.
