I need a good auto feeder.

i like the new rena, just because it doesnt run of batteries, and it has a built in sensor so its not feeding while your lights are out

I have two of the Eheim units, and like them. The air movement feature seems to help a lot with flakes, at least.

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm looking at auto feeders as well. How do the the Rena and Eheim mount to the tank? Do they just clip on? I really don't want to velcro it as I'm only going to use it on vacation. I bought a cheap feeder and the clip wouldn't fit over the plastic trim on my 90 gal.

Okay I have an eheim feeder. Soon I'll be going on vacation for a week. All I have is 2 clowns, 1 tang and a shrimp (+ a clean up crew). They do love flakes but when I feed them I release the flakes in front of a powerhead. When the feeder releases flakes most gets picked up by the filter. I really don't want to put the filter on another timer and try to sync it with the feeder. Any other suggestions to make the feeder more effective or efficient?

Make a small ring that floats or sits on top of the water under your feeder. When the food is dropped into the ring, it will stay there until its saturated enough to sink. The ring keep it from getting sucked into your overflow or filter.

How far above the tank does this thing need to be mounted? I'd like to just sit it on the top of the tank bracing. Not sure how much humidity is a factor on these. Anyone?

my rena clips to the border of my tank, I have no canopy or cover and there is a little metal deal that snaps in beneath the tank rim
