I need a red bug solution, I think.

Hello reefers. I am in need of some help. I have a 220 gallon tank with a acropora issue. Only the fancy ones are affected and I think I may have red bugs. I have tried dipping them but the problem always seems to come back. My parameters are all stable and perfect as far as I know. I have spoken to my local reef store and a person at Bulk Reef supply and they recommend I find some one who could provide me with interceptor. I looked other places online and I can not find it. If any one can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Bayor insecticide is what a lot of people use to dip corals in to kill bugs and other hitch hikers. Interceptor sounds like a insecticide to me

Bayer Advanced is what the guys at one of my local stores recommend.
But dips only work if the infection is exclusively on the corals.
If the bugs have left the corals and went into the decoration to look for new hunting grounds you will always have them reinfect the corals after a dip.

The thing you should do is therefore dip new corals before you put them into your tank.

Interceptor is a prescription medicine used in dogs to treat heart worm. It can be used for red bugs in an aquarium as well.

I really need a treatment for the tank. I have tried dipping with Bayer and have had some success. But when interceptor was available about 3 years ago I used it and it worked great. Then I learned to dip everything before it entered my tank but one of those little bugs made it into my 220 gallon.

I've had great success doing a whole tank treatment with interceptor. Acro love the stuff. But WARNING it can affect (kill) snails and shrimp. The last treatment I did on my 300 I did a double dose. I did take out all my shrimps and most of my snails well all the ones I could find. But a few seem to get by and they lived through the treatment. But I still say as a warning it can kill snails and shrimp.
