I-Tech Skimmer Club .

I just got my e-mail, the next batch of smalls are ready. I'm getting the AB2000/1 external to run it. I will be calling John for exact mod procedures for the external to make it work. The external comes with the venturi.

I recieved an email as well, I am looking forward to finally getting one of these. I will be running the sedra 3500 pump at first since I have two on hand from my old euroreef. But I will probably eventually upgrade to the aquabee...

Waiting on my pump to come in for my just aquired small.

Looks nice and clean. I just got home and saw an email from John saying it was "go time" for those on the list for the 100. I'm definitely stoked to be moving forward on this little skimmer.

anyone know the rating on these skimmers? I emailed John and for a ~200g system, he recommended 400. i think there isn't a lot of price difference between the 300 and 400 but does anyone happen to know if 300 might work? trying to set up a new tank so every dollar counts :)

Love the size comparison. Heinekin bottle would have been empty in my house. :bum:

I think at this time, there are 3 sizes. I have a medium on a 75 overstocked tank (21 fish, 7 shrimp, wall to wall zoanthids, and stuff I forgot about) and I believe it could handle alot more volume. I will be upgrading soon enough to a 180 system which will be more than likely....way overstocked again. (I friggin' love fish)

There has just got to be a way to filter the STANK coming from out of the stand.

which model is considered medium? i will have to check my email again but i think the models are 100 (small?), 300 (medium?) and 400 (large) and there is a Monster after the 400 large. just want to know if anyone knows about rating and such...

There's the 100, 200, 400 and "Super Beast" as I was told. There is no real "tank size" on the specs. He bases it more off of bioload than the size of the tank. I got my email about my small being red to go! I'm stocked. I already have a Sedra 3500 off of my ASM that it's replacing. It's going on my 37g cube right now. But in the future I would like to get something in the 60-90g range. Hopefully this skimmer can go up that high. I can't justify double the price right now in case I upgrade later.

Oh, and I have all of the specs and dimensions if anyone needs them.

edit: Dang, you musta posted while I was typing.

How tall is that thing? The camera perspective makes it look really tall.

anyone know the footprint on the medium.??..I have a small sump space...like 10x11.5 will it fit ,pump and all??

From John's specs:

Model Overall Height* Foot Print% Cone Base
100 22" (+3/8") 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" 6"
200 22 3/4" (+3/8") 11 1/4" x 8 1/2" 8"
400 23 3/4" (+3/8") 12 5/8" x 10" 10"
"Super Beast" (custom) 48" 18" x 30" 12"

First off, keep in mind those specs are of the skimmer only, no pump. Second, the specs on the small for example have changed this time around. Not sure why, but the new specs are 21.5 tall(+.5 for removal) and 8.75x6.5. So it's gotten a little bigger. I'm not sure if the other skimmers will be changing as well so you might want to email him.

I'm excited for that payment email. I want my dang skimmer ;)

I got 21 3/8" from floor to top of riser/air pipe, its a hair taller than the collection cup.
I got 6 3/8" for the base of the body.
9" is the widest point, from end of collection cup to barbed fitting/silencer.
The collection cup can be taken off with ease and about 1/2" is all that is needed.

Built like a tank, feels very solid. I do not think it would shatter if dropped from a reasonable height. I will not be trying though.

DO NOT pick it up by the collar or collection cup though. Its a slip on fit. You might be the first one with a broken skimmer body.

Has anyone taken the bottom of theres skimmer off to clean it?

I completely disassembled my large for a good cleaning between the 300 Rubbermaid reef and the 300 Marineland. It comes apart in less than a minute, probably quicker if I set my beer down.
