thanks mflamb I also think the 400 may be the way to go, John was saying to go with the superbeast but I wasnt sure. What would be the best possible pump to stick on it?
If you use the 400, the current best setup is 2 CoralVue Sicce PSK-2500. I have the Laguna/Askoll 1500 with a custom volute on mine. John, THE ichthyman, was at my house on Saturday evening, and he was very pleased with how it was working. The particular volute on mine allows for a bit more air than normal, but with a little fine tuning and absolutely stable water depth in my sump, the 400 works perfectly on my system.

thanks deathwish the superbeast is a monster skimmer but its built to be used on a 600 gallon system which is only 100g more than mine. I do prefer using the askoll, laguna, and sicce pumps over the reeflo. But if the superbeast will be more efficient I will go with that
I've been running my I-Tech 400 for 5 months now, first on a 300 Rubbermaid tub and then on my 300 in wall reef. It is by far, the best skimmer I've ever owned. You will not be disappointed in the 400 if your sump configuration with work with the skimmer.

Hi all~

I have a 100gallon SPS tank (heavily stocked) and thinking of
200 model than 100.

Do you think model 100 is enough for 100gal SPS tank?

Thanks.

Wooohooo...my 200 is sitting at the UPS distribution center locally and will be delivered Monday, I can hardly wait. :)

I have 150gal heavily stocked and the 100 is more then enough. You could always get another if you upgraded. I think thats what I will do, that way also you would have a backup if one of the pumps failed. Always nice to have backups.

Emster, would you mind posting a stocklist of your tank to give me an idea of what you consider heavily stocked? I am considering an i-tech for my 150..

This is his tank taken from his recent TOTM article

Emster's tank was TOTM a month or two ago, so you can dig through the past copies to find the list of livestock. But I belive 150 is the system volume, not the display volume. If I remember correctly, the tank was 90G with a fuge, frag tank, and sump all tied in the same system.

Hey im doing a 150 gallon SPS.. Heavy bioload..
What you guys think.. Can the 200 model knock it out or do i have to upgrade to the 400?
Thanx

When I asked John about a 150g (also SPS heavy bioload), he recommended a 400. Another nice thing about the 400 is that there isn't as long a waiting list like the smaller models. :)

you dont think that would be over kill though..
i dont care about the waiting list i have to wait 6 weeks for the tank either way...

I have thought about it that maybe the 400 is a bit overkill for my system but if that's what John recommends, I might just go with it. It's only $100 more compare to the medium. It would give me a little room to grow if I ever upgrade to a larger tank. I will ask John in the case of overkill, would he mind switching out a medium for me.
