I-Tech Skimmer Club .

Ya it's a 72 bow and it's definitely picking up everything the g2 has left behind since I don't currently have a large bio load. The thing is a monster!

It is my understanding that the slimline/mini is not a official model yet. John says it is considered custom work at this time. You have to PM him to get a price from what I have seen over on the I-Tech forums
 
How exactly is one supposed to insert the cup into the neck of the skimmer?

The O ring makes it impossible to seat, I could apply lots of pressure and when in my sump probably break the glass out the bottom before the cup would seat properly.

I understand the need for a seal but that's a flawed design IMO.

Any suggestions?
 
Mine goes in with a little pressure but i is a pain when you are trying to get a full cup if gunk out. I don't think you should have to use too mush pressure, check the O ring and make sure it is seated correctly.
 
Connected the I-Tech. Have water level at about 6 inches (directly underneath the outlet of the skimmer). Water / bubbles reach just about 1/4 the way up the cone with the wedge fully open. I close the wedge to the second notch, and it reaches halfway up (maybe a bit less). This is with the tunze pump. Is this normal or is the water supposed to be higher?

Skimmer is foaming up nicely after adjusting water level - figured I had to raise it just not sure to where - I should have researched a bit more :lol:

It wasn't ever broken :lolspin: I just wondered if it was normal for the level to be so low when the wedge was fully open. I let it run like that for a while then closed the pipe to the 3rd dot and it raised and started foaming. It's just ever so slightly above the 3rd dot now. I should have researched the settings more.

I'm wondering now how I can mount the float valve in my sump so low now that I had to drop it a few inches to accomodate the low water level of the skimmer. :eek1: Will have to find a new mount for the float.

Now for the break in period :bounce1:
 
Why not build a small stand for the skimmer to raise it instead of lowering the water level in your sump? You can make one out of plastic egg crate for lighting.

I cut small pieces of pvc and tied that to an eggrate shelf. My sump water level is 8" and I have a 1.5" eggcrate shelf for the skimmer

Not so sure I would want to use eggcrate. Heard a bit about it leaching phosphates into the water, and I don't need an additional source of PO4.
