But liveaquaria is labeling it as an ocellaris in their marine section. What do you guys think? I don't know if someone has already brought this up already ..oh well if they already have.

I am letting LA know about this but I wanted you all to confirm that it is indeed a true perc and not an ocellaris.

GSM guy would know. I'm guessing occelaris

but I saw that same pic, and wondered the same thing.

95% of FSs would probably label it as a true perc

ya it is a perc, its funny how when i first started it was hard to tell but now i can distinguish a perc from occ a mile away.

LA sent me an email today stating that they are correct on the ID and believe its an ocellaris...what ever:rolleye1:

from email.." Hobbyists have one fairly reliable test for species: cost' One way to determine as you may know is by counting the dorsal spines. You will notice our Percula has the noted 9-10 while the Ocellaris has 11. We certainly appreciate you contacting us regarding these pictures, yet we believe they are correct."

No one can prove them wrong I guess..they are the "experts":p

Definitely looks like a true percula to me...by counting the spines in the dorsal fin and the head shape.

I agree that nothing about that fish looks anything like an ocellaris should, its a true perc, but hey, the sellers are always the experts (rolls eyes).

They (LA) must be smoking something. The eyes, the face, and the overall appearance are shouting Percula. BTW Im only counting 9 spines.

I have ordered true percs from LA and she was a wild caught beauty. That is a true perc for sure, and I have e-mailed the supervisor of LA customer service to tell him exactly the reasons for the contemplation and I am awaiting a reply.

That is for sure a perc, do not be fooled!;)

LA is usually pretty good with their ID's. I think this pic got posted by accident during the upgrade, then an employee, either didn't check the pic before responding the the earlier e-mail, or is simply confused. They will fix it sooner or later.

I am almost sure thats exactly what happened. But we will see if it was indeed intentional or not...
