Stunning pics and tank! My best friend is a professional photographer and sent him a link to your pics. He agreed with many people here that your pics really are of professional quality. He said if you have not been taught composition, you are a natural and he is jealous. LOL.

Great stuff!

wow what a complement. Im so glad that people are enjoying my photos! I think I amaze myself with that my pentax camera can do (I really think the camera/lens contribute heavily to the photos). Lol I have never taken any classes. pretty much picked up the camera and ran with it in november. I dont even known exactly what composition of the photos really imply. Is that addressing the use of the rule of thirds? But thanks for the wonderful comments. it makes me happy :)

Composition would basically be how you "put together" the photo- placement or arrangement of visual elements. There is obviously so much more to it than that and yes the thirds rule would be part of that but some people just kind of "get it" (as you obviously do). It not only shows in your pictures but also the layout of your tank.

Thanks for all the wonderful pictures. BTW, the snake is my favorite! I would love to see a bigger version of it if you don't mind or have a chance.

lol i didnt realize the layout was anything special but after looking at it for a while I think I might see it. Do you want the original file for the snake (I might have to dig it up) but I would he happy to send it to you.

Yeah I would love it for my desktop! We have the same species of Boa at the public aquarium near my house but I can never get a good shot of it. I will PM you my email address if you don't mind sending it!

One of the best tanks I have seen. I really enjoyed your photos. I'm considering buying the same camera for myself after seeing those pics.

I have a couple of questions:

What is the large colony of soft coral you have? I like the effect of larger colonies and less species which you have.

What kind of Damsel is that? How big is it? Is it your only Damsel? How is its temperment?

lol thanks Chihuahua6. Its a great camera but the lenses really make a difference> most of these photos are taken with a quantaray 70-300mm zoom telephoto macro. its pretty entry level for a lens but has served me very very well. THe large soft corals are Kenya Trees. I started with a 1" frag about 4 years ago and now have about a hundred babies and 10 adult colonies that are reproducing like mad! The damsel, aside from teh chromis, is a blue fiji damsel/ with yellow on the belly. I think I got it from liveaquaria but its temperament is moderate and exactly that of the average damse. its about 1.5"l. It doesnt cause any problems though. There is a firmly established pecking order among the fish in my tank :)

Almost every day like clock work a group of deem come through our yards. They are pretty cool...except for the time one jumped through our window and into our living room....

More great pics, I'm surprised they stuck around to let you shoot them (with a camera I mean :D)

Well my thread on my part is getting alittle off topic. Moderators please be welcomed to move this to the photography forum if you see fit.
