ID on carpet please.

I think it's an Atlantic carpet but could use some extra opinions.

Yeah, that could very well be a Stichodactyla helianthus.
I personally wouldn't get one as they have a toxic sting and clowns are unlikely to take them on as hosts.
Though for a Caribbean themed tank it could be nice. There are some crabs that use it as a host.

I wasn't really interested unless it was a gig. But the color is terrible right now.
First carpet I've seen in my town in 18 months or more.
Petco is it around here.


And Im Still babysitting a gig.

If you are up for a bit of work, order a tan one from Live Aquaria. Be sure to have Cipro at hand as it will almost for sure need treatment (any gig you buy from Petco likely too)
I went that route and so far mine is doing good after treatment.

I've ordered $300 specimens from DD and $60 specimens from LA.

So far the best gig I've received was from saltwaterfish.com and it arrived in a bag with no water.

It's mouth was tight from the get go. I did treat it 6 days with Cipro after I had it for about 4 weeks.

I think it was fine, but it's behavior made me nervous. I just moved it to my display after 8 weeks or so in isolation.

I'm hoping for the best.

I wouldn't buy anemones from DD - their prices are way too high. Another reason is that they treat with cipro and I'm not sure they do it right. If the anemone gets sick again after shipping to you (which is likely) the bacteria (or whatever else causes the anemone disease) may have become tolerant to cipro and your own treatment will fail.

The gig I got from LA responded well to my cipro treatment and does so far good. I still have it in a 10g tank but the new tank for it should be ready shortly. The only issue with this gig is that it expelled most of its Zooxanthellae and despite some progress it still hasn't fully colored up again.

Me neither. Not a single one.

I had a nice healthy one at one point. It was eating. Tentacles were getting longer. then.... *poof* one week later... dead.

Crazy.

But I should have treated it when I saw the first deflation.

I'm getting better, (I GUESS) but I don't care to do it at an animals expense.

But for some reason I have to keep trying.

Yeah I know they treat them, haddoni, gigs, and mags for sure. I've talked to them. NOt sure about others. And I think you are spot on. Something isn't working with the whole treatment thing by DD.
And prices are crazy $700 for the latest red haddoni. That's insane. $300 i would do.... but $700.. no way.
