ID please? Unhealthy Anemone

Can we get a shot of the column? The first pic, with the perky mouth does resemble magnifica, but the second pic doesn't IMHO. I'd really like to see more pic's.

Well as long as we don't get good photos, it is anyone's guess. Goes to show how it is almost impossible to identify anemones based on photos of the tentacles and oral disk. Note that the other thread has different photos than this one.

Is it in the sand now? From the other thread's pictures I would guess that it is a H. crispa. Hard to tell from pictures unless the picture clearly show specific characteristic. Top down pictures only can be very mis leading

OUCH!!! If you wanted other pictures you just had to ask. :(

People asked in the other thread, so I gave them the pics they asked for.

None of the pictures are top down. The sand is at the bottom, and the anemone is climbing the back wall of my tank with its foot in the sand along the glass wall. If you want to see some specific characteristic please tell me and I will try to take a picture.

I have updated the other thread with several new pictures. If I am not posting useful pictures, I would appreciate someone telling me what would be useful. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get this sorted out, I just don't know what I should be looking for.

for ID purposes, picture of the column/foot and the picture of the mouth and tentacles are needed. Where the healthy anemone settle in your tank are all very important information.
For me, from reading your other thread and looking at the pictures there, it is clear that your anemone above is a H. crispa. Looking at the pictures here it is not clear due to lack of column in this thread. Good luck with him. They are easier to keep than H. magnifica.

Sorry :) I didn't mean to sound so harsh. It is just that identifying healthy anemones is a very different exercise than identifying sick / weak ones. Based on the photos I am seeing in the other thread, I would change my ID from H. magnifica to M. doreensis... but we really need to see the column to clinch it. Right now everyone is confused - and you probably are as well :)

Thanks for clearing that up! I'm really trying to help I just have no idea what I'm looking for. In the other thread I finally saw a "leathery" column for the first time ever (that never made sense before when looking at my anemones) so I am not very skilled at making IDs yet, thus the thread. :)

Now to make it even better, both of you should look at the latest pics in the other thread. I will keep updating this one now that I know someone is still watching it, but I'm gonna keep posting to there to keep the pictures all together. Just trying to minimize the confusion, as I seem to be supplying a surplus of it already. :thumbdown

*EDIT* BonsaiNut - can you see what you need to see in those pics or if not, where on the column do you wanna see?
