ID: Stone or Scorpion Fish?

I've had this fish since the collection trip in 2014. When I took him home he was only 1 inch. I'm happy to report that he's now 7.5-8 inches and growing rapidly!!!

He primarily eats glass shrimp but is trained to eat krill in the winter. He ate frozen silversides today since we are prepping for this winter.

Does anyone know exactly what type of fish he is?

I caught one seine netting by Jones Beach Inlet in Septemberand I think it is Spotted scorpionfish Scorpaena plumieri

Probably spotted scorpionfish. I think that is the most common species in the atlantic. Definitely not stonefish, they look different and don't live in the atlantic.

Thank you both - after doing some research it looks like you are both correct.

Andy - what have you been feeding your fish?

Hi
I have given him to a friend who keeps him in his sump, he eats live killlies and grass shrimp and frozen silversides. He has to drop the silversides right in front of him though. Pretty cool little critter and he has grown from an inch to about 2 1/2 in a very short period of time
