I found this wrasse for sale but the web site says only that it's a fairy wrasse from Vanuatu. I haven't had any luck figuring it out for myself but I'd like to find out about its needs before purchasing it. Thanks for the help.

Very cool much appreciated. Place wants $250 for it though...seems a little steep, even for Tokyo, no?

I probably shouldn't risk it then. Too bad...beautiful fish. I had a six line when I was a kid I loved. Great personality.

They are for sure along with most other wrasses?

+1... Wrasses (and many other types of fish) are jumpers...covered tanks are safer!
Six lines are not on my 'recommended' wrasse list... They can become a PITA!

My advice and experience on wrasse is to save up to get the one that you really like, and don't settle for anything less, because they are the hardest to catch IMO, easiest to jump if they are new to the tank and harassed.

LOL I had to catch that six line a couple times now that you mention it. Definitely an experience I'd rather not have to deal with again.:uzi:

I hate covering my aquariums, so I just don't think I feel confident throwing a $250 jumper in and leaving him unsupervised. It's the same reason I haven't sprung for a helfrichii.

That being said, I found a juvenile bodianus izuensis for $80 and I just couldn't pass him up. Hopefully he stays put:

Hmm doesn't look like the direct link is working. Click http://www.b-boxaquarium.com/shopdetail/002007001081/002/007/X/page1/brandname/

to the aggressive thing though-- all of his smaller counterparts will have already been added to the tank. I've read if they grow up with them there's less chance of them getting froggy.

Be careful with the QT on this one. I just purchased four about six weeks ago (3 females, 1 male) and went through my standard Prazipro/Cupramine 5 week treatment (although at 50% copper cause of the wrasses).

Wrasse don't take copper well. These guys did not take lower copper well at all. Only one made it out of QT aline (although all other fish in QT system did just fine).

Good luck
