Last year I was lazy and didn't go. The year before I went to one of the well known crossover areas and it was a mob scene. Same with the Downtown start but I haven't been there in years. This year I took my gear and took to the trails on my fat tire bike. There were a few places where the dog trails and the ski/bike trails cross each other. Amazing how few people arrive when there is a walk that is a little further than just accross the parking lot. Sometimes there dogs have some funny expressions when you capture a split second pose :).

Beautiful Louis. We had noticed it started. Glad you got to go. Give it up, I know you have more.

Okay, okay, you got me...... truth be told though I didn't get as many keepers as I'd like. The ones I got I really like but I'd say I dumped 75% or more of what I took. People get in the way, background trees in bad places, soft or missed focus, bad asthetics and what not.
Well, you know how it goes.....

Pretty in pink?

Yeah, the dogs always seem pretty happy to me (or maybe crazed is a better word :). I think they just love to run. What gives it a bad name I think are those bad apples. The people who can't afford all the dogs, or just get to over run with them and then stop providing them the care they need.

Recty - yeah, it is fun once in a while. Just need to be willing to deal with crowds and that's not my thing. At least it wasn't too cold this year. It was perfect to combine it with the ride. I was going out anyway so I just planned my ride route accordingly. However, standing around in the snow wearing boots with exposed metal cleats on the bottom was not the bets idea :). I was about ready takle a dog team and steal some booties .... I even would have went for the hot pink ones, toes were that cold :)!

LOL - everytime I look at that last image that dogs expression makes me think of the song "Institutionalized" by Suicidal Tendencies. Those crazy eyes with the constricted pupils and the ears all flopped back and pushed together .... it's just so funny.

I feel like his expression would be great for one of those Beggin' Strips commercials. Can't you hear him just yelling, "IT'S BACON!!" haha

Awesome photos, I have to agree with you that the dogs must be very happy as long as they are treated well. Just like Greyhounds and other running dogs, the Huskies have been bred to run so they love to run more than anything else... whether their trainer/owner treats them well affects their happiness more than anything.
