can it still be considered female?

so I have a slightly larger true perc whose third stripe is only partially in who was originally "paired" with an even younger/smaller clown. I wanted to split up the pair and put the slightly larger clown with a larger, female clown. Is it too late? Would I be putting in two females together? I'm thinking no, bc it doesn't have its 3rd stripe all the way in yet, so it's still considered a juvie ...
 
I've never heard of the stripes having anything to do with the sex
I would guess that the third stripe will just remain the way it is for the most part. why do you want to split them up?
 
no, no, it's definitely not a misbar! I got it when it was only a baby and its stripes were not developed yet. Finally, the last one is coming in, so I'm thinking it's still a juvenile--hence the reason that it could still be a male ...
