Have you heard from anyone, Mike? The silence makes me nervous. Did you get that phonecall from Atl?

Not trying to speak for Mike, but one of our members got in touch and we are chomping at the bit to come help if we are needed. I just started a thread about that.

I was the member from that called on behalf of the Atlanta Reef Club. If there is anything we can do, please let us know.

We are good and still have power.. My sisters tank in madison is running on a generator.
The worse I know of is John at CRA.. His house and shop are gone.. :thumbdown Its very sad.. We were able to save a few things out of a couple of the tanks. But for the most part its a total loss.. Hope everyone else its doing well.. Sorry to say if they arent' you probably won't know since most places don't have power and they also don't have cell service so getting on the internet is just not happening. My dad and a few others have power but no phone or cable. We are lucky enough to have satellite internet and tv so we are still in the loop.. We live about 8 miles north-east of John at CRA..

Oldrailroad bed road, parts of capshaw, pepper, eastlimestone, harvest rd, 53 all have damage several others also. Pretty much all around us.. Its pretty sad.. They are cleaning it up very fast though.. Most all the roads are 98% clear

CRA shop.

BTW same goes for me if anyone needs help. I know most of you that have my number have my cell,, which doesn't work now due to the storm damage.. Believe it or not our home landline works I'd rather not post it on the net but its in the yellow pages..

If you have a marine battery, inverter and a small pump like a maxijet you can keep the tank alive for days...Even longer if you hook your car to the battery every now and then to recharge the battery.. There is a thread floating around on here of a UPS I made and thats pretty much the main bones of the system..

You can also stagger the usage so the battery last longer.. IE run it for two hours then off for one, ect ect.. You don't need light the stuff will be fine in the dark for days..

Most of the power is back on here in Walker County as of late last night. The offers of help are appreciated, but by this point when I can finally get back online, what is lost is already gone, and what has survived will be better off here than being stressed further by moving. I was able to use (but not until the second day) an inverter hooked to my car every few hours, a battery powered airstone, and a lot of pouring, and I think the tank has done better than I would have thought. Lost a cleaner shrimp, a goby, a wrasse and some soft coral. Anemones look sad and their ultimate fate still unknown. But all in all, better than expected. Thanks so much for thoughts and offers. Sue

I got a generator from work yesterday. I hooked it up to some stuff in the house and luckily had enough sockets and extension cord to plug into the tank. Stuff looks okay. Lost 1 tang and possibly same softies. Maybe everything else will make it

I have a Coralife Luft pump and supplies if that will help anyone. It can push air into the deepest of tanks or multiple tanks at a very low power usage. I don't have much spare generator capacity, but I can charge backup batteries, which many open shops will have. It takes quite a few hours to charge one, but I have two and I can swap out for uncharged ones.

Do NOT email or PM me since my data access is virtually nil. (I'm at a hotspot now.) Phone access is spotty. If any of this will help, send a text to 256 four seven six five nine nine six.

I am in shock to see the damage that John and Henry sustained at CRA (not to mention the entire Capshaw dr area). Im glad and relieved to hear they are safe though. They are in my thoughts and prayers. John, if you are able to read this before we talk again, please know that if you need anything dont hesitate to call me. My cell service is spotty at best but Im usually at the Decatur PetSmart from 6-2:30.

I was lucky that my place made it as well as it did. I live in Tanner (in Swan Creek mobile home park.) Im missing a few bits and pieces of my house and taking on water but I didnt loose anything in the house. All the inhabitants of my tank made it a day with out power and I moved them into a temporary tank at my parents. Swan Creek does not have power or water atm. The best guestimate Ive heard is 10 days to 3 weeks before utilities are restored. After seeing the devastation from around the state, I count myself as extreamly blessed.

I hope everyone is safe. We can start new tanks, build new homes, and replace stuff, but we cant replace our friends and loved ones.

Stay safe,

Jeremy R.

I would also recommend at a minimum a minnow bucket aerator. I believe the corals and fish die first due to lack of oxygen. Most aerators run off of 2 D cell batteries. Good luck.

Got the generator back running...but have some losses. My acros are probably beyond hope...both my pearlberry, my red planet and an un-named one are goners. My green slimer MIGHT make it...but I doubt it. My zoa and softies look okay for the moment. Most of my fish seem okay...other than the tang that is.
the skimmer is working overtime right now. Keeping fingers crossed

I may yet lose the anemone in QT, but he was in bad shape already. A few hours at 70F did not help an already stressed critter. My display tank was even worse -- 68F! -- but everything in there is tough and made it through. I guess that's the virtue of a lagoon biotope; everything that can survive in a lagoon can take a beating temperature-wise. It's my fault for underestimating the temperature drop. The backup batteries ran through until the wee hours Thursday AM but I didn't fire up the generator until Thursday afternoon. :(

I have one of those battery operated air pumps. It only pushes air a few inches deep. For those who are making future plans, I recommend a battery backup (like for a computer) and a low wattage powerhead that agitates the surface. It'll kick on even if you aren't home.

The pics of John's house and CRA are terrible. I assume, since no one mentioned it, that John is safe?
