Hey all, my name is Roger, I live in Orange Park Fl. I am re-establishing my aquarium after moving into my home 7 years ago...I figured 7 years sitting empty in the garage is long enough...before that my tank housed large Lionfish, Banded Cat Shark and Grey Reef sharks...miss those guys!
Mine is a 125 gallon Acrylic tank...will be setting up with a saltwater reef system and am just now at the point where I am adding live rock...
So thanks in advance for all the help I hope to recieve from the many dumb questions I expect to post!!

decided to join after several hours of good reading, learning a lot of new things. Have always loved saltwater aquariums, but its been quite a few years since ive had a setup.
I am currently working on setting up a 60g fowlr. RO water, 60lbs dry aragonite, fluval 405, fluval e 300w heater, 40lbs base rock, 20lbs live rock, 2 Koralia 750ghp power heads, standard lighting. Plan on adding HOB skimmer. its been setup for a few months and about ready to start adding live stock.
Looking forward to learning and talking to everyone

I've been reading for a few months now and even registered a while ago, so I guess it's about time I got around to introducing myself. I'm Dave, and I'm one of those "in and out of the hobby over the past XX years" types. In my case XX= almost 25, I started with a 20H FW tank in the late 80's and by 1990 I had a dedicated "fish room" with 12-15 tanks at any given time (including several FW, brackish, Rift lake and a couple SW). The focal point at the time was a 55 gal reef (or, what passed for a reef in 1990).
When I moved to a new home in '94 I kept only the 20h FW tank and the 55 gal, The wet-dry was a casualty during the move so the tank was set up as FOWLR this time.
I got married and moved again 5 years later and the tanks ended up in storage until I took my son to see "Nemo." Within a few weeks, the 55 is a FOWLR again with a couple of clowns, a few damsels and a few snails and hermits.
Fast Forward a few years and the last fish has gone MIA, tank is still running just to keep the LR alive. I've changed bulbs every now and then (VHO gave way to PC during the Nemo days) and done the occasional water change, but I haven't come close to keeping up with it the way I should.
A couple months ago it dawned on me that "I bet I could get that tank back to it's former glory with a bit of work and maybe $200-300 in replacement parts and upgrades. It was time for new bulbs so I decided to start over with T5s, I started searching ebay and craigslist for lighting, sump and a stand (the old one doesn't look so strong after we had a few inches of water during Hurricane Irene). One thing leads to another and now I'm building a 90 gal to replace the 55 (and have more than doubled the original budget).

At this point I have nothing aquarium wise. I have begun looking at a 50 to 90gal setup and plan on going from there. I hope to plan for several months and maybe be ready to start our new tank around Christmas.

I am new this site and am starting my first reef tank. I had a 40g fresh tank and have been dying to get back into the hobby. I recently purchased a 100g reef from a local guy getting out of the hobby. I have started the tank and am currently cycling the tank. I will try to get some pics up soon.

I thought it was about time to introduce myself.So here i am =) Ive been in this labor of love hobby for a little over a year now. My first and current tank is a 24 gallon AP mixed reef. I'm already getting ready to upgrade to a 40b in the next couple months, which I'm very looking forward to. Cool website lots of good information. Been away from SW for about 15 years but have been spending past few months researching on what it takes to maintain a reef tank. 20 years experience Freshwater.

Hello Reef Central, I am some what new to Reef Keeping, I initially tried a 20 gallon reef years ago back when power compacts were the new rage in lighting. Now there are T5s and LED options which I am still trying to understand fully.
Anyway, I am going with a 56 Gallon 30x18x24 mainly due to lack of space and this unique design gives me the most gallons in my restricted space. I have plans for a 24 gallon sump/refugium which will house a protein skimmer as well.
I am a bit lost on the lighting end, I am planning on housing LPS', softies and eventually when the tank has been long established an anemones. Any recommendations on lighting would be much appreciated. :deadhorse:
So next question, would 300 gph sump pump and an MP10 provide enough water flow to keep my new friends happy? Secondly is the Hydor SELTZ L30 a good QUIET pump?
And now my Protein Skimmer question. I am eye balling a Super Reef Octopus XP1000 Space Saver, does anyone have any feedback on this skimmer? I feel a little like this :headwally: just because I want to make sure that I do this right and I am able to keep a decent bioload. So I can :beer: and observe my own little piece of the reef.

Hi im Matt. I am fairly new to the hobby. I have a 40 gallon breeder with, 6 fish, i have a 20 gallon sump/fuge. I have 10 pounds of live rock rubble in tank/fuge and 30 pounds of dead rock in my tank that has pecies of live rock rubble all over it. I want to get into soft coral and lps. I have no idea how much flow i a going to need and i would really appreciate any input.

I've been lurking in the forums and just wanted to introduce myself. I have always been interested in reef aquariums but never set one up. I come from a freshwater background and currently have 2 planted tanks. I'm still researching and planning my first saltwater build.

I'm FRESH into this hobby, never had a (salt) tank! I have just been doing my best to do my research prior to getting my hands wet (pun intended). I've had freshwater tanks since I was a kid (I would also still like to consider myself a kid - in college), and I have had a planted tank now for almost a year, and the beauty of reefs and saltwater tanks is pulling me in! I will be setting up my FIRST saltwater tank in August. A 55 gallon tank. It will have to be in my room, so I will have plenty of questions to ask (many of which have been answered thanks to this awesome website and the people on it!) in regards to opinions about what setups are quieter and whatnot. I'm excited for what RC has to offer!

Hello everyone! finally decided its time to stop missing out and grow a part of the reef in my room
