Hello :)

Hello :)

:wavehand:Hi, I am new to this hobby, but I'm so excited to get started. My name is Jaime, I'm 35, and I have a Nuvo 38g and an 8g that I am building very slowly. There is so much information out there that can scare newbies, and I'm really happy I found this site!

Hey all,
Getting back into the hobby a little more seriously after making some life changes (read: divorced, so the old lady can't say no)
I had a 35 hex with a few mixed softies, but recently upgraded to a 60 cube, with the goal of having the majority SPS.

I've been keeping reef tanks for 12+ years, and have been involved in various aspects of the hobby, including working a few years in a LFS.

I have a degree in aquaculture, doing my undergrad research on alternative larval foods for pseudochromis friedmani.

I really like DIY projects, a lot of my system i built myself.

Its good to be back, and very encouraging to see how the hobby has progressed over the past couple years.

Hello, I am a 25 yr freshwater vet but 2 month noob on marine, I just bought a biocube 29 and am setting it up with a mantis shrimp(G. Smithii, http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthro...acostraca/royslist/species.php?name=g_smithii). Cycled and ready for it. Already modded it with advice from people like you with a skimmer(needle impellor to avoid replacing stones constantly) and tossed the nitrate factory bioballs. Happy to see such a large community online. Reminds me of my MMO gaming days with Sturmgrenadier for Planetside and World of Warcrack.

Hi

Hi

Hi, I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Ryan and ever since my girl and I grabbed two black goldfish about two years ago, I've dropped her and stepped my game up to a 69 gallon reef. Im looking for the reef clubs I've met a lot of people on craigslist locally and finally someone told me of the Wine Country Reef Club or something like that located in Napa Valley or Sonoma county or something? Can anyone direct me to the reef clubs on the site? Thanks!

Howdy,

I have a 95g acrylic mixed reef tank. I really new to SW/reef tanks, I have had many FW tanks but never SW. Currently my 95g reef is cycling and can't wait to start adding fish and coral. But currently trying to learn as much as I can about reef and SW tanks before the is cycled. I really excited about starting this new hobby.

Take Care,
Patty

Hello,
I'm new to the hobby, brand new. I decided to dive right in and start a reef tank. The fowler tanks just didnt interest me that much so im going strait to reef. I'm starting a 75 gal reef tank. The tank has been up and running for almost 2months now and doing well. I've got a 75 gallon drilled tank with proflex 3 sump running a mag 7 return. Reef octopus xp1000sss skimmer, hydor 1050. For lighting I've got aquaticlife 4 bulb t5. Avast ato. I plan on lps and mushroom tank with some sps in the future.

Currently I've got two ocellaris clowns, one orange and one black. One peppermint shrimp and some snails.

I bought 100lbs of live rock from someone else's tank and am quickly realizing maybe that was a mistake. I have aiptasia, bubble algea and flatworms. The live rock came with a few corals such as a nice colt coral, star polyps, zoanthids, and several nice looking mushrooms. I cycled the tank with all this coral and it seemed to do very well. The rock was out of water for maybe 30 min. I have since added 2 ric that seem to be doing well.

This forum has taught me a lot and I look forward to what else it can teach me. Thanks for all the useful info.

Hello my name is Ben. I have only had a marine tank for about 8 months. I started with a 29 gallon with a blue devil damsel and 35 lbs of LR. I then bout a few soft corals like mushrooms and GSP. I converted my 55 gallon FW tank to a reef about 4 months ago. I already want to buy a 120 gallon tank. I am not sure my floors could support much more. I was directed to this site by my LFS, I think he was tired of my questions.
