If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hi all-

I am so grateful for this forum and all its members. There is such a wealth of information here and so many people willing to share their expertise. I had FW tanks for most of my childhood and a SW when I was a teenager. Reading all this information, I have no idea how that little 10 gallon with Damsels and an anemone made it, but they did. I'm gearing up to start a nano reef in the thirty gallon size range, mixed reef with a few fish, invertebrates, and corals. Thanks to everyone. -Aaron

My name is Jasper and I am in Southern Mississippi. I have had several few setups but I discovered this site while searching for information on reef tanks as I will be making my purchase soon (in the next couple weeks). I am looking at doing a 65 gal setup. Led lighting, octopus1000 skimmer, 20 gal DIY sump, and possibly building the stand with canopy myself. Unless I can get one for the right price! Anyway, I have found lots of useful information here so far and am looking forward to experiencing the wealth of knowledge to come in the future!

Hello,

My name is Mike. I setup my first marine aquarium (29g with a 10g sump) on 9/15/12. This forum has been my #1 "go to" for information as everyone seems so knowledgeable and friendly. I currently have 2 clowns, 1 fire shrimp, and 4 hermits. I was recently given a coral (I think a Colt) and it seems to be doing great. I look forward to connecting with the rest of the members here.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
My name is Diane and I am new to the reef experience. I have had a freshwater tank for 23 years, but have decided to add a saltwater/reef tank to the household. I started about 3 months ago with a 10 gallon tank and found out way to fast that it is to small!
I am purchasing a up and running 55 gallon tank. The owner of the tank recommended this site. I can't wait to get started! I look forward to talking to everyone.

Hi guys my name is Nate. I live in So Cal. Pretty experience freshwater guy 7 plus years, but looking to cross over to the salty side. not experienced with any type of reef keeping but eager to read, learn, and ask a bunch a questions and hopefully someday a few years down the road I can return the favor. My future plan is to start out small with a nano reef but still in the planing stages. I'm very excited and glad to be part of the forum.

Hi everyone, my name is Jay and I'm very new to the hobby. I just recently started a 34g nano tank. This may be a dumb question, but my tank has a UV sterilizer in it. Will this kill copepods and/or beneficial bacteria?

Thanks : )

Hi all, saltwater beginner here. I have a 60g cube. Looking for rock structure ideas as well as advice from the experts out there.

My name is Chris and I am new to the hobby and to Reef Central. I would like to thank Richard from Tampa Bay Saltwater for introducing me to this site. I currently work as a Cargo Supervisor for Southwest Airlines in Tampa and we do a lot of business with the tropical fish industry. I am very excited to get started. I am currently working on getting all the equipment I will need to begin. I look forward to sharing my progess as well as learning from you all.

Hi everybody, I'm Matt. I am returning to salt water tanks again after 15 years of being a freshwater guy. I have a 29 gallon setup with live rock, crushed coral and a few hitchhikers going good so far. It's about 2 weeks old... I'm trying to do a lot of research and get things right this time. I want to have corals, invertebrates and a few fish. This is my first time with corals, so any good threads for coral newbies would be great. Thanks for the help in advance!

Hello Everyone, I am Mike. I live in the San Fransisco Bay Area. I have been in the hobby for 3 years now. Started with a 14 Biocube and quickly became hooked. I now have a 92g corner tank, 37g cube, a 30g or so LPS tank. Trying to shut down my 14g and a 12g aquapod since upgrading to my 92g. The 92g is a full mixed reef and has been running since June. Had a friend recently recommend I join Reef central, so here I am.

Thanks
Mike

Finally setting up my first tank. Been around the hobby for awhile through friends and family. I'm currently about midway through cycling my 150 gallon. Currently 145 lbs. of LR in the DT and probably 5 to 10 more of LR rubble in the sump.

Plan is to have a mixed reef in due time. But for now, just waiting for my new lights to get here! Went with AI Vega's.

Hey I'm Johnny, I'm from orange county. I'm on and off with freshwater but looking to do something different. Saltwater has caught my attention.

Hello!

I'm brand new to saltwater. I currently have a 29 gallon and a 40 gallon freshwater planted tanks. I'm looking to learn more about saltwater. My husband and I are planning to make a big purchase of equipment soon!

Looking forward to learning more!

Hi all,
I'm just starting my 30g AIO and anxiously waiting for my cycle to finish. Hoping I could have a tank remotely close to all these amazing tanks here on RC!

Hello RC. here is a pic of my 29 gallon reef. It's about 11 months old and has changed a lot since it was first set up. Will probably upgrade to larger 125 or so in the future....way future. I like simple. Started out with a huge stack of rocks and have put way too many critters. Have backed it down to what you see here. This pic was taken at night so most of the life is dormant in this pic.

and in starting and the reason i found this place, I have a 37 gallon long acrylic tank that i am restoring and found a little crack or flaw in the acrylic along the bottom seam, tried to post pics, it is small, should i worry about it, the tank does hold water
