Hi all. I'm new to RC, but have been keeping saltwater aquariums for about 13 years. I used to be an active forum member of swf.com, but it's becoming less helpful. There's also a few forum bullies who are taking the fun out of the hobby for new aquarists. I'm excited to learn from the members here, and to share my years of experience and knowledge. I'm currently in the planning stages of a large 250g+ system, which I'm designing myself. Look forward to meeting many of you.

Hello all my Name is Jesse and i am new to the hobby. I have a 20G tank I just started today and i will keep u guys posted on my grow ^^

Hi, I'm Donny. I've been keeping fish for about 8 years, all freshwater, mostly african cichlids. I just got started in salt. I've been wanting to do it for a while, a friend of mine had to get rid of his 75 gallon so I ended up getting it cheap. I want to run a sump but haven't decided how to go about it yet, whether to get the 75 drilled or go non-drilled. Which way would have less risk of flooding in the event of a power outage, or are they about the same?

Hey all! New to reefing, getting my sand and rock this weekend and going to do my first cycle. Might as well ask my first question- deep sand bed or not? I've read pros and cons, what do you think? Thanks!

Hello everyone !!!
My name is Anupam Biswas. I am from India.
I have been keeping chiclids to gold fishes for about a decade.Facination followed by the desire followed by some research, and now finally wet to the knees.
My 3x1.5x1.5 foot glass tank is my friend that fulfills all my fish desires by housing them.FW or SW,it is always on my side.Mistakes or success,it never seems discouraging.
I have started my saltwater with a silly mistake. After some laborious rock making,I placed that (24"long,14"tall and a wave like front part with 5"-3" troughs) triangular concrete structure into my salt water without curing.
Today is the 45th day.
My question is-when it cures after 28 days, how long does it take for the pH to turn to normal without any water change. My water is very hard by nature, leaving calcium lines on the glass as it evaporates.Expense is big factor as I am a student. Therefore I had planned for a FO setup with a couple of clowns only. Can I not keep the water and continue when the time is right?
Thankyou!

Hello,
My name is Erik and im addicted to fish tanks. I started keeping freshwater tanks about 16 years ago, and have moved into saltwater in the last couple of years. I currently have a 135 gallon display with a 45g long as a sump/fuge. I am thinking about taking the plunge into corals as i belive my current setup will support it. So far the knowledge and dedication on this forum has blown my mind and i am proud to be a member here!

Thanks for all the help thusfar, and the help yet to come!

Erik

Hey All - Just getting into reef tanks. I had a fresh water fish tank when I was young which encapsulates my experience. One of my friends had a 90gal which blew me away - he tore it down a couple of years ago and is getting back in with a 180gal, I helped him pick up the tank last weekend. Every time I set foot in a reef store I freak out. Not so much into fish, SUPER into the the crazy neon wavey corals and inverts. This hobby is calling my name very loudly. I don't have much income ATM so i'll just be lurking and learning for the time being.

hello all I new to reef tanks but not saltwater. I had a 55gal. for a while then a 30gal, but life gets in the way. now I am trying piece together a 75gal. for a reef tank.

thanks

Hello everyone, my name is J and am new to saltwater tanks and this forum! I got started by accident when I took on a 29 gallon biocube for a friend moving out of town... Needless to say, after only 2 months, I was out pricing a 75 gallon aquarium! There is something to be said about starting a 'new build'! I have spent the last four months setting up the tank, running diy plumbing into my basement, creating a sump and refugium, and even retrofitting my skimmer! Who knew!?!

Thank you to all of the posters out there who helped me out along the way. J

Hi, I'm Sandy. I've always wanted a salt water aquarium and thanks to my 3 great kids, I now have one. It's 65 gallons. It's been cycling about 6 weeks now. I am having a hard time being patient before adding things, but I'm managing. :)
I'm probably going to drive y'all crazy with my questions, but I'll try not to ask many dumb ones :D

Hi everyone,
I am new to saltwater--kept freshwater as a kid through young adulthood. In mid-adulthood and got a 29g Biocube a couple of months ago--live rock/sand, still have the biocubes in there, doing biweekly waterchanges to keep nitrates down.

Have 2 Clarkii CLownfish (adore them!!) and a Royal Gramma (adore it too) and a few corals: Fingered Leather Coral, Green Hairy Mushroom, and Star Polyps.

Probably won't do any more fish, maybe a shrimp that is reef friendly, but maybe a couple more corals.

Thank you for the site and all of the great info!

I am new to forum. I just started my 15 Gallon Nano tank and It's going great so far. I think I have one of those pesky aptasia's growing on the glass of my aquarium but I'm not sure. I will take a picture and put It up soon.

Have been in Freshwater tanks for ever, mostly African Cichlids, breeding etc. I am in the process of reading and asking questions. I learned a long time ago theres no point rushing a new tanks set up. Thanks. Mike
