Looks like I missed a good frag swap. Lots of new threads to read.
We fished like crazy but if it weren't for bad luck we had no luck for the majority of the trip. Only one cooler full of fish with a day or night on the water for 7 days. No more FL August fishing trips for me.
We did limit out on lobster during one trip. I got a nice 5lb hog snapper on the same trip (dumb enough to give me 2 attempts to turn off the safety on the spear gun). I really noticed all the fishes and corals we have in the hobby this time. Water was murky so to find lobster you had to grab hold of LR and stick your face in the hole/shelf/monti head. We got about 5 lobsters from under one 6' head that was mostly encrusted. I never saw a blue, purple, green, etc SPS; only browns. One almost poked my eye out (twice). Fire coral and I bonded. Urchins and I shared body parts. And I must admit I have many, many battle wounds incl a stitch in the lip from my own stupidity ~ rigging up leaders in the AM and I had a short tag end of line so I bit on the tag end of the line, put pliers on the hook, and stretched the leader to tighten the knot. Hook slipped out of the pliers and my left hand continued to yank the hook into my lip. Not thru, unfortunately or we could have cut it and run it through. Many other set backs but the lack of catch wasn't for a lack of effort. I cant wait to get back to work so I can catch up on my sleep.
