I'm gonna have a meltdown.....

We've had our house on the market for about 6 weeks. Not a terribly long time. But the planning has taken about 6-9 months. I have neglected my tank. I have held off on new purchases for the tank. Maintenance has slacked. All in preparation for moving to a new home.

Just came home to find the FOURTH, count em', FOURTH house on our street up for sale. We were first on the market in Feb. Since then I've seen 3 more of my neighbors put out signs. Those of you that have been here, know I live on a tiny street with like 12 houses on it. 4 of which are now up for sale. People are gonna think we all just found out the place is on a toxic waste dump or Native American burial ground.

Looks like I'm gonna die in this house. Burried alive in Halmeda.

Already told my wife, if we're staying, I get a new mountain bike and tank. She can get her new stove and couch or oriental rug or what ever she wants. We will revitalize the economy with our depression fueled impulse buys.

Halelujia, holy **** where's the Tylenol :furious::spin3::eek2::worried::uzi::spin2::confused:

I feel your pain..we are getting ready to sell my mothers estate(her house) and so far 5 houses have come up for sale on her mile long street..They are selling but slow now..

This time of year becomes a buyers market *sigh*

One is WAY too high, one is low because it's a dump and his will be below ours, but it's a smaller house. They are, very different homes. Very different buyers would be involved with each house. Ours is for a decent sized family. Next door could be a really nice starter home. One is really upscale, but very small and way over prices. Last one is a ****hole and overpriced.

I just don't like how it looks. Maybe the traffic will work in our favor. Maybe it will scare people away. I would have put my shotgun in my mouth already, but all I have is turkey shot and I'd hate to still be alive when my Labrador starts eating my brains....

This really sucks.....
Hubby and I are bummed for a similar reason today. We found a house we really want and like only to find out an offer has just been accepted on it.......
Too bad we're not in Syracuse - we could come check out your place.

We have a house that we can get at a discounted price. Only problem is, that offer has an end date. Unless we can get a legitimate offer on our house in by the end of May, we'll lose that house, or have to pay 7% more for it once it's on the open market. That could potentially put it out of our reach. Really ticks me off that the only reason for the price hike is to pay a realtor....

With this recent turn of events, I'm forced to use the...well.....The Force. If it's meant to be it'll all come together. We've done all we can do. House looks the best it's ever looked. Spring bloom is helping out the curb appeal.

I do feel a slight relief. I mean, all houses sell eventually. After how long and for how much is the question. We have a lovely home, minimal debt, we both have good jobs and a beautiful baby. 2 Douche bag dogs. Life is good.

I'm looking forward to getting my hands back into my tank.

I smell a REDO!

i like your positive thinking, hang in there, things have a funny way of working out :)

Perception is a big part of buying. I know when I was looking a few years ago if I saw 3 or 4 houses on the same block I said what you expect. "What is wrong here". You need a good salesperson to turn that around.

Dave

My buddy has some superman real estate agent that sold his crappy house in a crappy neighborhood in 5 days for higher than comparable houses. Need a change??

So essentially the other sales will hopefully make your home look better comparison-wise for any that check into them. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Crack open a Heineken and give yourself a pat on the back. Apparently the neighbors decided that if you're moving, then the neighborhood isn't worth sticking around in. :D

Cully when You get interested buyers offer up the tank with frags of its inhabitants to sweeten things up a bit, then if they go for it your wife will have to let you get a much bigger tank!

Devious.

We're selling by owner so I'm actually around when people enter. I stay out of the way obviously, but if they don't mention the tank in any way, I squish their heads with my fingers once they hit the driveway.

oh i so needed that laugh in the middle of a grueling rehearsal....think i might have to try the squish thing.

Ahh the joys! Seems as your home is listed just right! Not to high not to low and its nice home! I would not worry, I'm sure it will sell! The nice weather brings buyers as well :)
As far as the neighbors,I would work up the curb appeal as you said to grab attention to your home!
Put up some signs on main routes (Close to home) ect... Have the realtor make up some flyers with pics and put them in a box outside for buyers to grab this way if they dont have an appointment they can at least check it out and call to make an appointment if interested. I hope all goes well! Keep us posted ,and keep your head up :)

hey Mark as you may know the housing market is somewhat flooded at this time . i would cool your jets and let the summer come in the hope that the sale may be easier with the better weather . you never know what the near future can bring and you have to make the best of each situation no matter how grim it may seem . if you have your house in top notch condition it can also help . you also may want to diversify your selling options and get a hand held banner run around solvay in your bikini briefs and you very well may get some extra needed attention . ya never know what is around the corner .
