So will this be just a top down viewing pond? I apologize for being redundant, but some of the large fish have very slim profiles when viewed from above, so I'm quite confused....

aquaman, what fish are you planning on adding in to the pond? What about live rock? Corals? etc.?

Addict reef makes a good point. I use corrugated polycarbonate panels from lowes for some of my tanks, under. 8 ft in diameter. They also are amazing at holding the heat in in the winter.

I am using polycarbonate hurricane panels for my larger system. They are pricey though, but makes a nice lid.

Both can also be found are greenhouse supply

At the moment I have 2 dehumidifiers each rated for the entire basement. So im good there, since I will be boxing in the sumps. It is a look down only tank, basically the whole principle behind it is grow out. I have 2 hippo tangs in my system. I rescue fish or adopt them from people all the time. So its really more for the fish, since the price of a tank with glass viewing would be hard to pull off with a 8 month pregnant wife! Lol I sold frag tank and pumps to pay for this! Ty for questions and ideas

Shiza forgot to add putting in 160lb of polite sand and 75 or so lbs of fresh dry rock and then ill transfer some live rock from other systems

That is going to be a great new fish pond have you looked in to some of the high power exhaust fans from Lowes or home depot you will want to keep an eye on the humidity from water evaporation from that big of a tank

Yeah, I mean I have 1200 gallons in the basement currently and it has been running for a little over 2 years, grant it they are tanks, but all tanks are open tops, and sumps are horse troughs. So far humidity never spikes over 55-65% they are powered constant and turn on automatically. Prior to getting high powered outside exhausting dehumidifiers with water draining to sump pumps, during the summer it would be thick in the air. But the nice thing is they are air conditioners as well so my basement stays cool and dry etc.

Fixtures wired and run to apex bulbs are ordered. The floods are from home depot and temporary

this would make a cool tank to have some mangroves growing out of! Is your substrate going to be white so you can see the fish easier?

Yes 160lbs of white sand is en route! Plumbing is acquired the bushing in the T is for air riser pipes

i thought about building an open lagoon in my basement fed from overflow of reef tank on main floor since my sump etc was in basement already. plan was small specie sharks, rays, lions etc.

i declined due to humidity issues i battled already.

keep it up! cant wait to see it!

Filling with tap water and seating the liner as suggested by alprazo and others. Then i will cut liner and fit bulkheads

This is amazing. Great work and way to not let haters get you down. Are you planning on getting a shark egg and raising it from birth?

For now I am just getting it salt worthy, p.s. With no braces on just seating the liner it was 1/2 full and no bowing or creaking. Nice I just have 2 more brace pieces left

No more screws. With exception of plumbing to and fro, this thing just needs trim!
