Input on Custom Tank

As it says above, I'm looking for some input on a custom seahorse tank idea that I've been kicking around getting built for me.

The dimensions would be 30Lx15Wx25T so roughly 48.7 gallons of water.

I have some space restraints so a sump, which I would actually really like to have, is not an option. But I do plan on getting the tank drilled to make adding one at a later date possible. In the mean time, I was going to make it in to an All-in-One system with a rock wall to give the horses the maximum amount of space to move around in. Any constructive advice is welcome :D

sounds like a nice tank . i would consider forgoing the rock wall and putting a column of live rock off set in the tank. you will want places for them to hitch too. also add a good hob skimmer . sounds like a good build keep us posted

Hey, Thanks for your reply!

I was thinking the rock wall so the that the horses wouldn't have a place to hide behind. My rock wall idea would be more of a rock lagoon attached to the wall with hitching posts built in to it, but I guess pictures would probably be better to give you an idea. I'll try and sketch some up and figure out how to post them later. A column sounds like a good idea too...

I was looking into the AquaC Remora-S Hang-On Protein Skimmer, it's rated for up to 75 gallons. Dose anyone have any opinions this skimmer or suggestions for a better one? From some of the reviews I have read and viewed on utube this seems like a great skimmer.

oh sorry i misunderstood you. i thought you were going to make one of those foam rock walls on the back of the tank.
aqua c is a decent skimmer and reef octopus makes a good hob from what i have seen others post.

Thanks for the advice!

You didn't really misunderstand, I didn't explain it as well as I could've to begin with. I always cringe when I hear rock wall and think of a foam one. . .

That being said I really hope my all rock, rock wall doesn't end up as a rock mess, I guess we'll see.

Here's a quick drawing I did of the plan so far. I edited it in paint LOL It wouldn't let me add text boxes to the picture. . .

The rock will be built to fit that foot print then slop up and back to the top of the aquarium. The right side will have kind of a scoop to it that will hopefully make it have the lagoon type look I'm going for. I will build the hitching posts for the seahorses into the rock work.

I've ordered the tank so hopefully I will be able to get started on this build soon. . .
