Installing bulkheads......

Actually, I would have that emergency drain higher then the overflow teeth. Yes, once you hear the water draining and making more noise then usually that's an indicator. BUT another way of identifying that the main drain is clogged would be the raised water level in the main tank.

No siliencer is needed for the Herbie overflow system.

As far as knowing about an issue, the siphon drain will be 1" under sump chamber water level as recommended, I plan the emergency to end short, so I'd hear the splashing if it was needed. I figured the level of water in the box will be somewhere between the siphon and emergency, and could be adjusted with the gate valve to a certain degree.....

LOL, trying to fit 3 unions is a PITA.

Oh yeah, I hate those slit exits from LocLine, run the standard cannon after all it's just delivering water. Slits tend to spray water everywhere.

I just noticed that the new tank I'll be setting up has some chipping around the bulkhead holes. It was a macna tank so I assume that the damage was done then with a fast setup. I haven't done a Leak test yet but what should I do if I can't get a good seal with the bulkhead and o ring.

If the chips are bad enough to prevent a seal, you'll need to make a backing plate for the wet side. Basically another piece of glass, or even plexi, cut big enough to cover past the chips by about an inch. Drill a hole in the backing plate for the bulkhead and silicone it in place with the holes lined up.

Looking good brotha!
You and I have identical overflow setups.
Skip the silicone grease on the bulkheads.
No need to glue the PVC return pipe. Due to my simple plumping and small amount of PVC pipes used, my return pump is pushing more water then I would like at the moment and has had zero impact on the PVC itself.

Very good. I decided to order a slip thread bulkhead so I can thread my return in.
