Geoff ~ I'd reverse those numbers... I'm not a big fan of hermits though... They tend to knock stuff over...
I spoke with Matt (OI) today... He's going to work on a price/availability list... He'll either post it, or give it to me tomorrow and I'll get it posted...
The few prices he quoted me seemed more than reasonable though...

Geoff, I too am not a fan of hermits. Many of us aren't. I don't have ANY in my tank. I blamed them for every empty snail shell but after more than a year without them, I still have empty shells. I might get 6 MICROs (if Matt can get them) and when they grow up, donate them to someone who likes them.
I assume you mean Astrea turbos, not those big bulldozer turbos that shrine26 mentioned. I'd recommend some ceriths also. And if you have a sand bed some nassarius(sp?). 60-80 snails + a couple hermits would be my recommendation. Someone (Bomber) once told me 1:3 cerith:astrea or vice versa is good for BB tanks. I'd think the same would apply to DSB but add nassarius.

I might be in for a few emeralds(mithrax sp.) and possibly some astreas depending on price.
FWIW I have lots of bluelegs in my tank and like the job they do. It's kind of one of those different strokes for different folks things. They can ruin your DSB infauna according to some if you have a "true" Shimeck style DSB. I used to lose a lot of Astreas and I pulled out 2 large (~ 12 - 17") Eunicid (Oenone fulgida?) worms and excessive deaths stopped. I still have some loss from hermits but it is negligable IMO.........please excuse the sidetrack.

Ok, so Matt (pres), Donny, Trey and I went to OI yesterday... In order to avoid turmoil, Matt (0I) said he'd just beat any internet price out there... In order to remain fair to him, I think if we used the price list from Reeftopia, that would be good... For inverts wanted that aren't listed on the Reeftopia site, find another site and post a link... I'd like to get this order going, so lets start posting definate numbers... Hope this is to everyone's satisfaction... If not, PM me...

Hmmm. I've changed my mind about the astraes. Instead, I'll take:
Shrimp, Peppermint (4 @ 4.50 Each) $18
The price break is $4 each for 6, so if somebody wants these as well, the price goes down some. I think they are $3.50 each if we get 24.
I would also order about 30 ceriths for $.75 each (the 100 price break assuming we get there) if I could get assurances that they would be the same ceriths (1.25" long) that Reeftopia sells. I won't buy the little ones ever again. They were crab food and a waste of $$$.
I think we are going to have problems trying to make a list from one vendor and getting another to buy the same thing. Whatever way we go, I still want the peppermint shrimp.

I will do 24 blue legs too. If we get one more person it would be 100 for $35 or $8.75/person for 25 each. I too would like some gold astreas but not sure if I need 100. Anyone interested in 50 making it $14.50 each? I maybe interested in other stuff too but will decide later. Thanks.
