iPhone or Droid - want to use with Apex

So my wife suddenly wants to buy me a new phone tonight for my birthday and I'm on the fence as to which one to get. I want to be able to have it work EASILY with my Apex controller, Tapatalk here on RC and other forums, and did I mention I want EASY?

I already have Verizon so that's a lock. Choices include:
iPhone 4 (16gb or 32gb ?)
Droid Incredible 2
Other Droid???

I've read bad reviews of how some of the droids are loaded with bloatware and demos that cannot be removed, something as a former PC builder annoys the crap outa me.

Another + toward the iphone is for my business there's already an app available in the itunes store to access my online cart. The droid version will not be ready until December or later. However if a particular Droid is that much better I can live without this app for now.

Opinions?

My vote is for the Droid. Check out the Droid Bionic, nice phone.

iPhone isn't bad, but it's an iPhone at the end of the day. Different philosophy, different phone.

I recently tried the Droid Charge from Sansung and returned it. The screen was great but the sound while talking on the phone was really bad. I may try a Thunderbolt next.

I'd wait. I have both Android and iPhone and the biggest question to ask yourself is this: do you want a lot of control over your phone? The big plus to having a droid is the ability to root the phone to be able to add stuff to it whereas with the iPhone, unless you jailbreak it, you have a nice phone with decent apps. I have the HTC Thunderbolt and if I could, I'd return it for something else. You don't have the option of leaving the phone on 3g instead of 4g to conserve on battery life. Out of the box with push email, my thunderbolt lasts about 8 to 10 hours depending on usage. My iPhone will last me about a day and half or so and thats with heavy txting. If you can wait, I'd say wait and see what Apple releases.

Wow, thanks for all the input. After doing more research on features that would actually be useful to me I actually started swaying toward the iPhone. Now that rumors (or deliberate marketing) point to an early October release I'm going to nurse my old phone along until then.

honestly, iphone will be the best. For future development and current, iphone will always have the newest apps for anything, even reef related

I have the droid incredible.. Was great at first, Now its always shutting off and on off and on... and the battery gets BLAZING hot! and i have had it for 10 months. Im sure theres alot better droids out there but im probably getting the iphone when its time to upgrade.

If you are having a problem like that, it is a rogue app. All phone types will suffer from that. I suggest that you factory reset it. You will have a brand new phone again. You will not lose your pictures, and your apps will automatically redownload after you log back into the market.

I would wait for an iphone 5 on a general basis, BUT AFAIK the aquanotes app that you would use with an iphone to control the apex isn't gonna get any further development. At least not right now. Granted it works VERY well. I almost never access my apex via a real computer. I use my ipad or iphone. I THINK neptune is still actively developing the droid app. I could have that all complete wrong.

I am nursing my iphone 3gs along with crazy glue, duct tape and prayers.

Love my HTC Evo Droid compared to my iPhone 3G. I purchased HeneryH's Droid app ($2.99 I think) which works great for the Droid. There's also a widget that updates tank parameters at the desired intervals.

I held off as long as I could, and at 12:01 when Verizon opened their site for pre-orders I ordered a new iPhone 4S 32g. It's suppose to ship by the 14th, but we'll see if they get all the orders filled on time.

Yeah I know, it's not exactly the iPhone 5 everyone expected but its an upgrade for me.

Now I can finally upgrade from this old phone!
