is aquaeon a reliable brand?

I bought a used 75g that I'm in the process of building but It turned out to have a small chip half way up in between where the two panels meet I really don't want to have the headache later on so my lfs has a aquaeon 75g reef ready new for 200$ is this a good deal also is it a good brand? Another question if i was to resell the old 75 what would you guys consider a fair price?

I have a heater from aqueon and some hob filters. My ten gallons are also from them and I never really had a problem with them. If I remember correctly the bottom cannot be drilled into.

I have had a 4 aqueon tanks, 2 currently being used, and have never had a problem. When I bought them from petco during the dollar sale there was a stack of 8 that were another brand and then two hidden on the shelf where the tanks are normally at and got the aqueons over the other brand because I had luck with the others.

They are a basic economy tank. They have reasonable build quality, and likely no issues. They are well engineered, but at a price point. Treat them with care and they should last a long time, but if you are rough with them they will not hold up like a higher level tank. Keep a eye on the rim and center brace- if there are any issues with either- repair them immediately.

I had a 3 month old 40g breeder from aquaeon crack on me a few weeks ago and put water all over my floor but overall I think they are a decent tank.

Thanks for all the replies looks like I'll be going with the aqueon seems most people have had good experience with them thanks again.

Never heard that before. Aqueon is made a few miles from me, in the facility that previously was All-Glass Aquariums.

Same with me for Marineland, but I'm not sure what aspects if any of the construction happen in that facility. It may be assembly or it could just be redistribution.

A "small chip" is something to worry about, regardless of brand.

Me neither, but I had All Glass aquariums for years without a problem. Solid, mass-produced tanks IME.

Same here, in fact I've never owned anything different. AGA started making tanks with silicone (hence the "all-glass", without the metal framed corners) in the late 60's in a basement and iirc was April fools day in 1970 when the brothers quit their normal jobs to take AGA on full-time. I took a little tour through the building they built the tanks in some years back (late 90s I think,) and they had another one down the street where they built their stands and other equipment. One of the brothers also had a penchant for nice Ferraris. :spin1:
