Is it too late to get my GSM clown a mate?

I have a gold stripe maroon who is about 1.5 inches long. Very healthy but kinda rude when I put my hand in there LOL

Can I get her a mate or is it too late? She is in a 72 Bowfront and the only other fish are a Coral Beauty and a Fire fish...

Its never too late to attempt to pair her. At 1.5 inches long though you would have to find a really small maroon to pair her up with (say 1 inches long).

Here's what I did to pair up my Clarkii who had been alone for almost 2 years:

I added 2 VERY small juvi's to the tank. Because a larger female has a tendency to be a bit of a bully, that allowed her to beat up on one of them, and end up accepting the other as her mate by default. If you are able to find some small ones it may be worth your money to try this. Instead of trying one, then having her kill it, then trying another. Do them both at the same time and you might have more success.

Ok, so if she takes a mate from the two new ones...what about long term? Can I leave all three in there or will there be fighting? At some point I want to add a tang. My fear is overstocking the tank.

Not sure I like that pairing technique, one it will cost at least twice as much, and 2 it will probably result in at least one death, maybe even 2.
There's no gaurantee she will accept either.
Best way is to intro w/ a specimen container, and yes, get one as small as possible.
It should be obvious whether she is just curious about new guy, or tearing at container trying to kill it.
A breeder container works great, floats at top, easy to feed, and if she doesn't like it you can pull it easy.
I'd stick w/ just one pair.

My maroon was super fussy/aggro.
For her I had to use a container that was close to her nem.
This is another option.

Davocean has got it down

pairing maroons is not the same as pairing any other clowns due to the sheer agressivness. Check out the FAQ sticky on pairing clowns, it specifically calls out pairing maroons.

I decided to leave her alone and I got a nano in trade that will go in our bedroom...gunna put a pair in there :) Not sure what I'll get yet

thanks for all the tips and advice :)

My first post here.
I have a maroon about 1.5 inch and he was very territorial and dominating in the tank.
I decided to take the risk and try to get him a partner.

The only reasonable choice to me was to bring a new much larger female and to introduce a new bubble tip anemone to them.

Since the new big girl is going to be new to the tank and the small one is way to small to try domination I gave it a try.

I added the bubble tip and the very big female and in 2 minutes the male started ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œdancingââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ around her.
I now have a ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œhappily marriedââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ couple in my tank.

I was ready with the net, just in case there is a fight to the death.

Introducing the anemone was also a great help, the big one was in to it in a sec and it made her much calmer (she is very aggressive, tried to bit my hand the other day as I was feeding her anemone) .

For a week now they spend their time in the anemone and digging in the sand.

Conclusion: adding a much larger female to a juvenile with the help of an anemone as a wedding present can work
