Is my clown doing good or not?

Okay, I have a large maroon clown, I purchased a BTA today. It had not been in the tank 10 mins and the clown was forcing himself in to it.
I down the the BTA was too intimidated as it still remained half open/closed.

The question though... the lights now off the clown has dug a hole in the sand to the side, pushed the BTA in and forcing its foot into the hole under the LR and os leaning on it like a door the the cops are trying to smash down?

Is this normal?
Is it doing the BTA harm?
Should I intervene?

That's pretty normal but it might be best to separate until the BTA is acclimated to the tank. What are the parameters? How old is the tank?

Is this normal? -Yes
Is it doing the BTA harm? -probably; A clown needs to host in a BTA large enough to put up with its antics, which include nipping bits and pieces of the BTA.
Should I intervene? -As stated, your tank may not be established enough for the introduction of these two. If you know anyone with a long-standing reef, let the clown or the BTA live there awhile until your tank is fully in balance (=parameters stable for a good few months).

If either die, just wait and be patient, and don't beat yourself up too much. We've all been there.

What all of them have said. If it were me, I'd rehome the clown and find a smaller, non-maroon clown. The Maroon will own the whole tank unless it is very large and will make adding any other fish difficult. It will also take bites out of you given the chance.

I agree with the others for sure....I had a blood orange clown....cross between a maroon and false perc....got him when he was a inch....after a few years...he was almost 5 inches...and mean...he took over the whole tank...and harrassed any new additions...no matter how big...plus you couldn't put your hands anywhere in the tank without getting bitten. So a few weeks ago I donated him to my LFS. That is a nice looking nem by the way...you might try to separate the two like someone else mentioned... until the nem gets acclimated.

I had a maroon and it was the meanest thing ever! It also did bully my RBTA. I let it be and the RBTA eventually put up with the maroon.

Leave it alone and see if they work it out. I agree the tank looks new. How long has it been running?
