is my tang nuts?

Does anyone else here have a tang that swims small circuit laps in front of the tank, only at night for hours on end? He is a powder brown, we call him loony fish, and he makes some tight turns, he also enjoys swimming sideways and diving at the sand only to pull up at the last second.

I have a 4" naso that occasionally does that. It's kind of a vertical figure-8. It's really cool the way he does a half-roll at each end in the process. Sometimes he also "surfs" in the output from a Tunze Stream.

The truth is that 6' is a pretty small world for free swimming fish. I'm glad that he has a way to get some exercise but I'm sure that it's not the same thing as a long swim in the wild.

Its not just laps its aquatic acrobatics, and he makes hairpin turns turns himself around on a dime, sometimes he turns immediately back around sometimes he goes half a foot then turns back around and sometimes he cruises the length of the tank and turns back around, and boy is he fast and he barely moves his fins, its really very impressive. I watch him at it for hours in the living room while my aunt is watching survivor and the like.

my powder brown doe's the exact same thing, as soon as the main lights go out and just the antic, i don't think he sleeps at all during the night
